Did you get a full diagnosis? -Gil chris_g 09-20-05, 11:54 PM no i didnt i just want the pills livinginchaos 09-21-05, 12:49 AM Welcome to the forums, chris! We'd love to see an introduction from you in the New Member Intro forum! here's the link: http://www.addforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14 Do you have plans on seeking an ADHD eval for diagnosis, chris? are you getting support with this from your parents? A physician can diagnose ADHD, but it's usually better to see a psychiatrist for diagnosis, especially one who specializes in ADHD. These psychiatrists tend to be up to date with the latest ADHD research. They usually have more knowledge regarding coping skills. Many people with ADHD also see a therapist/psychologist. Again, this helps with coping strategies and dealing with being ADHD - the good and the bad. Other people who can point you in certain directions are school counselors, teachers and parents. Have any of them said anything to you about ADHD? What other ADHD traits are you seeing in yourself? It would be great if you could be more descriptive. Why do you just "want the pills?" What do you think they will do for you? Gil R 09-21-05, 07:28 AM no i didnt i just want the pills The psychiatrist would write a prescription after they diagnose you, most likely Sc@tterBr@in_UK 09-21-05, 08:52 AM The psychiatrist would write a prescription after they diagnose you, most likely And they don't look too kindly on people who walk into their office demanding "Pills" without being interested in a proper diagnosis. If the original poster has ADHD, I hope they get help, but drug-seeking behaviour shouldn't be encouraged, IMHO. netsavy006 09-21-05, 10:30 AM I thoughts are to go to your primary physician and ask about medication. You may be surprised by what s/he says. :)  livinginchaos 09-21-05, 12:31 PM I do not recommend just going into a doctor to ask him/her to prescribe ADHD medication without a proper evaluation and diagnosis for ADHD. I hope a doctor will not just prescribe ADHD meds without a diagnosis (unless there is a different medical reason), especially since it can be easy to abuse these meds. Chris - I hope you continue to post, letting us know how you are doing and what's going on with being evaluated for ADHD. netsavy006 09-21-05, 12:39 PM :foot: livinginchaos is right. I figured it would be best to go to the doctor first for a referral. Crybaby1898 09-21-05, 01:03 PM yeah welcome to these forums. have you talk to a doctor and had test done livinginchaos 09-21-05, 02:10 PM actually - you just brought up a good point, averity! Chris may need a referral to a psychiatrist. |
