I am asking for some feedback .... my 8 yr old (3rd) grade is ADHD, on 36mg of Concerta and so far so good in school. Over the summer we worked hard with him and there has been a big improvement, he rarely questions why he has to do something, he doesn't answer back if we speak to him and he had learn't tocontrol himself quite a bit.... the teacher just called me saying in the afternnon he seems to be zoning out, not focusing on what they are doing .... he isn't been disruptive .. he is sitting there and I guess him mind is wandering and he isn't listening........................... does anyone have any helpful tips we can do to help him.
Thanks, I think this is a wonderful site, it is uplifting and very helpful with the feedback.

I would let the dr who prescribed the concerta know what is going on. Talk to other people you know about it and get their opinions as well. Also, make sure he's not staying up too late. (being in bed awake and sleeping are 2 totally different things.) He may also need a medicine increase, or a combination of 2 different medications.
Tks.... I did not think about getting enough sleep..... as you know the medication can affect their sleeping patterns and typically even though he is in bed by 8.30-900 he often still hasn't fallen asleep till 10pm (sometimes later)....
I am trying to get him in bed by 8... and letting him read for 20 mins which can help making you sleepy....but hitting this target time of 8.. can be difficult. I am going to monitor this .. tks for that tip.

I've heard that drinking warm milk (like for a baby) and turkey (though cant eat every night, I understand) can help you fall asleep too. I've also know that drinking honey tea (doesn't need a lot of honey, and < 1 tsp. of sugar) can also help.
Tks.. I will give them ago.. I give him a calcium/magnesium supplement before bed, maybe i should give it half hour before bed - this is a natural relaxer and a natropath told me it would help with his sleeping pattern.... I think however I give it to him too late....
