If you have seen this movie, what did you think about it and it's portrayal of women?

I was pleased to see that the heroine of the film, who represented sleeping beauty, was a strong woman. Strong, a little tom-boyish, yet feminine and beautiful.

They didn't make her up...unlike a lot of these fantasy films where the cave girl is in lipstick and eyliner...and yet she was very sexy.

She was introduced in the film as a "robinhood" type character.....they could have put her in the animal hide mini-skirt and ragged midriff top you see in other films, but instead they chose attire that would accommodate her needs in the movie's wooded setting.

Sleeping beauty a tom-boy?

I thought that was pretty cool.

I went to see The Brothers Grimm a few weeks ago.
And I never really thought about that during the movie.
Because Sleeping Beauty was dressed the right way for the role.
If she was running around the woods half naked.
Then I would have given it thought.
Because I would have found that to be ridiculous.
And totally unrealistic even in a fairy tale movie.

On second thought, if we are gonna run through the woods and fight off wooly mammoths, we'll need our eyeliner and animal hide mini skirts..;)

Ya never know when you'll run into Prince Charming.

Gourmet I'm confused did you just change your mind on this?
I'm sticking with my first thought.
If Sleeping Beauty needed a fur mini skirt to get Prince Charming's attention.
Chances are he would just be Prince KnuckleHead and not charming at all.
I still like the way they had her character dressed in the movie.

LOl..I didn't see the movie but now will have to check it out. Only I'm afraid that the leopard print and Vixen Red lipstick will be the visual I have during the whole show.

i really think that the movie industry is more careful about how they portray women. I read recently that women are the predominant buyers in the entertainment industry. Music is a high as 92%. I'm sure it's a bit lower for the film industry...after all we're pretty good at draggin our boyfriends and husbands with us when we go.

Flipping through the channels in the early am while I'm motivating my daughter to the bus, land of the lost will be on. I am always appalled at the clothing the women are(n't) wearing. that'll keep 'em nice and protected in the jungle primeval.
