I'm guessing that most here do.

How do you handle boredom? Like many with ADHD, I can't stand it when I have nothing to do. I like to keep busy. It's like a need that I have. I think that part of the problem is that I get stuck with what I'm doing and it sometimes takes me a while to transition from one activity to another. (An executive functioning issue for sure).

Another problem is that I get depressed once in a while. (Especially when I'm not engaged in some activity or project). Another one of those ADHD things, I've read. Unfortunately, when I'm feeling down, I find it hard to find something to do that interests me. Fortunately, I don't get feeling down too often anymore.

What are some ways you handle boredom?

I know how to keep myself from being bored.
But there are times when it can't be helped.
Standing on long lines in a store Oh how that bores me.
Listening to someone I don't know well go on and on never getting to there point.
Very boring because it's exhausting work for me to stick with them and listen.
Being bored for me is when things move along at a slow pace.
I just want to get things done and when someone's holding it up I find that terribly boring.

The way I handle boredom is by avoiding the above situation's as much as possible.

Definately do the boredom thing -- as someone here recently described it:

* bored
* restless
* anxious
* depressed

If I don't find something to do or think about quickly, I go right on down to anxiety and then depression.

Things I do to avoid boredom:

* daydream
* read something interesting that challenges my mind
* listen to music
* exercise
* get together with a friend

I haven't found anything other than meds though that helps me listen to someone who talks on and on (like my husband). I just want to crawl out of my skin or hit something.:p

boredom stinks. i was bored, so now im reading and replying to almost every post on this site. thats how im avoiding boredom right now. :-) I do get down-right nasty to my husband and depressed and stuff on the weekends i've noticed-where we stay in alaska there is ABSOLUTLY NOTHING TO DO (im talking no movie theatres, no malls, no gas stations...well theres one.....no departments stores ... there is a grocery store where my hub works and a hospital where i work....THATS ABOUT IT.) ANYWAY (this is what i do on add meds...TANGENTS) on the weekends i mostly just sit on the couch and watch tv all day. im not productive at all. its starting to get really cold and when im couped up inside with hubby hes the only one i talk to and i pick arguments because im bored and then we fight then its real bad the reast of the time. i think thats all i wanted to say. k thanks. :-)

When I'm bored I clean the house or atleast I attempt too....I spend hours shopping especially at Target or Wal-Mart and end up leaving without buying what I went after in the first place. Or I get mad at having to wait in line and leave everything in my cart and walk out. Sometimes I go outside and "play" with my son. I like to jump on his trampoline. Can you imagine? When I first moved here my neighbors thought I was the babysitter!! LOL Ok....my worst bored behavior is......I pick at my skin which is a very bad habit and kinda gross. EWWWW....I use tweezers too. Legs, arms, face....sick huh? Oh yeah, I love love love to vacuum! It calms me down or something.
