I hope you're getting a commission from the Sharper Image -- I get their catalogs, I've even made a few purchases. Some if it's pricey, but you can find people peddling new Sharper Image stuff on ebay.. probably gifts that didn't go over well.

ONe thing I bought from them years ago was a pocket voice/memo recorder, came in very handy for all fo the 'brilliant ideas' I had on the road, that I could never remember at the end of the day.

I lost it, but recently purchases a DIRT CHEAP MP3 PLAYER WITH VOICE RECORDING FEATURE.

I paid about $40, takes Compact Flash cards, so if you have some CF cards lying around, you're in business. USB to PC, syncs with MusicMatch Jukebox (free), but you don't need any other software on the PC.. It weighs about 1 oz, totally idiot proof, and sounds almost as good as an Apple iPod..really. But the good part is that the voice/memo recording is easy, and the playback sound is crystal clear, better than tape. I can dictate a TO DO list.. in case I lose the paper that I scribbled it on.. and it's great for music or audiobooks too.
