Hey guys,

I've been on strattera for about 2 weeks now, and most of the side effects have faded.

I'm still having problems with what apears to be my prostate though. It manifests itself in about 3 ways. I'm sorry if this post is a little too much detail for some of you, but I'm concerned about this issue, but at the same time, I would really like for this drug to work out for me.

When I urinate I often have trouble keeping full pressure. I have to really push for it, and it sometimes hurts when I do.
My testicles and penis are noticably lacking in blood when I'm not aroused. I hadn't seen my girlfriend since I got started on the stratera, and she noticed the physical change immediately. Where my testicles usually hang pretty loosely, they've been pulled tight lately. The whole thing usually looks like I just got out of a pool -- lacking altogether in blood.
Ejaculation is painful. After I ejaculate I feel a pain like I need to go to the bathroom (number 2) for about 1 minute. After that passes it stops hurting.

Has anyone had similiar effects? Has anyone had similiar effects and they went away?

Thanks!

Prostate problems didn't subside for me. Although I woudn't call my symptoms severe. You may have had some pre-existing issues. Check with a doctor to see if you are in risk categories such as diabeties or recurrring bladder infections.

Good luck man, Strattera works out for some. Hope you do okay.

I had the exact symptoms except I didn't have pain...it was more a discomfort. The symptoms subsided for me completely after a couple of months. But, during this time I was experimenting with dosage levels. When I tried a lower dosage, the symptoms were less. When I upped the dosage, the symptoms got stronger. Once I settled down on a constant dosage level, the symptoms continued to slowly dissipate to almost nothing.

If the pain is really uncomfortable, talk with your doctor to experiment with your dosage level. Try to find the lowest dosage that gives you the best results and bearable side effects.

For me, my target dosage was 80mg. My doctor wanted me to start at 40mg for 2 weeks then jump to 80mg. I stayed at 40mg for 4 weeks before increasing due to the various side effects. By then my side effects were a lot lower. As soon as I increased, the side effects returned. I then started to experiment with dosage levels. I tried 40mg for a week, 60mg for a week, then 80mg for a week. Each increase resulted in a slight increase in side effects.....but at the same time I got better results. So, 80mg was the best for me.

Straterra has been worked great for me to the point that I was willing to deal with some side effects. But, luckily, the side effects are pretty much non-existent now.

Good luck, and be patient. If you side effects don't go away, it's possible that my other many lifestyle and diet changes may have helped. Message me if you want to know details.

I had similar symptoms, I felt like it was hard to urinate, I noticed sexual side effects in that my semen was different, thinner and less volume. I have also had urine leakage, just a couple drops. I've really gotten use to it all.
