It really bothers me that I am so forgetful. That saying about I would forget my head if it was not attached..............that would be me :D

Can you think of at least 3 things that you forget on a regular basis??

Mine are:
1) keys

2) sunglasses

3) check book

My forgetting is in the moment.
So listing three things would be hard.
I'm organized and have routines for everything.
I always know were my things are and don't waste time looking for them.
The way I forget things is walking to a room to get something.
By the time I get there I forgot what I went to get.
Opening the pantry door for something I forget what it was I wanted.
So I have to give myself a minute.
Then my recall kick's in and I remember what I forgot.
This type of forgetting is the most frustrating for me.

I live in a two-story house, and as I'm walking out the door (or after I've driven away), I discover I've forgotten something that is, of course, on the second floor. Works regardless or whether I'm coming, going, or staying, too: whatever floor I happen to be on will NOT be the floor the forgotten object is on.

Other than "things," I forget:
-- Names
-- Whatever I was about to say
-- That my car is parked in a two-hour zone

1. Purse (I have stashes of cash and credit cards everywhere so I don't get stranded or go hugry)
2. Deoderant...(I have to keep some in my purse, which I most likely forgot, so there's some in my desk too...)
3. My cofee cups ( I have a collection on my desk At work)

This thread is so cute, it really describes me!!
1. keys every morning, we can be on time about to walk out the door, and take 15 minutes to find keys. Last week I woke up 30 min early and still arrived 45 min late. Go Figure!!
2. Cell phone, I cant help it, I dont like it on my belt. I just loose it all the time. I have to call myself to find it.
3. Planner, went to see this psychologist, spent all this money for her to tell me to get a planner, so I did. Only thing is I cant find it!!!

I clip my keys to my bag and I always put my bag in the same place. All the ususal necessaries are in the bag, so I am good with that one. I keep a list in my bathroom to check that I do all my morning stuff; and I do keep antiperspirant and toothbrush at work in just case.
But...
1. I am always forgetting appointments. I have to hyper notice when they are and keep checking. This only works iif it is really important to me.
2. I am always forgetting my teacup at work. I leave it all over the place. And it is always at the furthest place from me when I realize I no longer have it. c(_)
3. I am terrible at remembering important dates. I hate this because I know it is important to so many people.

But I am getting used to it. It is just so me...:D

Wow, I totally relate. If I have an important appointment, I hyper focus as well. In fact alot of times I get to my appointment an hour early because I'm so afraid of getting distracted and missing the appt. or being late.3 things I forget most:
names
cell phone
my boyfriend has to remind me to pick up my son almost on a daily basis because I lose track of time. He always says "what time is it Jen?"

I always think I have plenty of time. But my apartment is such a mess, that disaster always strikes. I'll have 3 hours to prepare for a concert. I'll shower, and sit around forever thinking I have plenty of time. All of a sudden, aaaah! Where's my shoe? Where's my dress? AHHH, it has to be ironed! Then I leave JUST in time, and I have to turn back twice, because I don't have my music or my shoes. *sigh* You'd think I would learn.

hmmm, I forget what people say all the time
I also forget what I'm supposed to be doing
In terms of wallets, keys, and phone--I keep all these things in one purse that I can't leave home without, so that works out.

Also, for apointments, I use outlook's calendar, and just put things in--and it reminds me to do things--amazing :-)

Sometimes I'll go in my closet for something, and I'll aimlessly look around in the right spot, but have no idea what I'm looking for--even though the clothes are right there--then sometimes I remember what I was looking for :-p

How sad is it that I forget what I forget? LOL It's really Monday for me nearly seven days a week.

Okay, it's not so much "stuff" that I forget anymore. I worked hard to train myself to keep the keys, the meds, my dayplanner, my purse, etc. in the same place every time. The biggest thing I forget is where I have parked my car. It doesn't matter if it was only for five minutes or five hours. I will have zero recollection.

I also forget directions. I could have gone to a place repeatedly over a long period of time, but that's no guarantee I'll remember how I got there. As a result, I usually travel with a printed out list of directions for myself. If I don't, I get disoriented and easily frustrated which result in being even more lost.

My mom was always telling me I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached!

Hmmmm, only three things?:p Well all of the above mentioned items, plus ...

l.) anything in the stove:eek:
2.) where I put the bills/important papers
3.) to send birthday cards/presents

In reality those forgetting where things are is one of the biggest pains with my ADHD. I can't tell you how many holidays, birthdays, etc we haven't videotaped our absolutely adorable little girls, because the battery wasn't recharged or the battery charger, battery, or camera was lost. I spend huge amounts of time trying to find things or correct things I forgot after the fact.

I'm also with Ms Sunshine -- I lose my car in the parking lot all the time (in fact the day I went for my TOVA test with the psychologist, I forgot the paperwork he asked me to fill out, forgot where I parked my car, so arrived late without the paperwork. I also forget directions all the time. I have to have printed directions (not a map) and I can't remember how to leave a place once I've been there. I got lost going to my counseling appointment last week and I've only been going to the same place for nine months!

of course forgetting my meds makes me even more scattered.
