Hi everyone.
I just went ot my psychiatrist for the first time and i told him everything.
He said I have ADD.
It feels weird, cuz i've suspected it for a long time but to hear it said is odd.
I was given a perscription for Concerta. I hope it works well for me.
I just wanted to thank everyone here for all the support :D
Contratulations on finally getting a medical professional to agree with your suspicions.
If you don't mind, could you share with us some of the diagnostics/testing/questions your doctor performed?
Did you feel comfortable during the session?
Do you have a follow up scheduled?
It feels weird, cuz i've suspected it for a long time but to hear it said is odd.Yes...Gratz on sticking true to your feelings, especially by doing something about it.
Lana--
It took lots of courage --of course you know that! Remember that as you continue to deal with your ADD. I'm glad to see an adult get diagnosed so young. Your future will be the better.

Congrats Lana
The way I've heard it described when you first get diagnosed and they find the right med for you is...."It opened up a whole new world for me."
More frequently, you hear the comparison made as being like having an eyesight problem and then getting glasses for the first time

Happy for you, Lana! :) Hope you quickly find the dosage and med that works best for you! Keep educating yourself about ADHD and be sure and get support -- meds are a tremendous help and it's still a bit of a process to get things working optimally for you!

Congrats on taking the step so early...I'm sure you're looking at these post and thinking this is not early,I could have used this in high school, but to some of us 23 is definitely early in the game.

thank you everyone :)
I actually took my perscription today for the first time ritalin, concerta. and i felt funny, but i think i didnt listen right to the doctor and took 5mg too much. i wrote about it in the concerta forum.
But i'm optimistic, so tomorow i'll just take a small dose adn hopefully i wont have the same anxious-tired-foggy weird feeling.
Everyone here is so helpful, i'm so glad i found this site. :D
