what's the point in taking two doses in a day if the side effects are long term? is it to reduce the side effects?

When I take two doses the side effects are non-existant. It also helps even out the dose. Strattera still has a half-life of 6 hours. If I don't take an afternoon dose, I get really tired at about 2:00pm. I could fall asleep at my desk. The afternoon dose helps make me not tired. I also take Adderall XR.
