I've been on other forums where can get the postings as individual postings or in a daily digest. I coudn't see that option here and wondering if it was an option?

I lose half my time as my pages reload and am just trying to find a way to speed things up.

Can't you change your browser settings to stop them re-loading?

(I think you once said that you work in IT -?- , so I suppose if this were possible you would have already thought of it.)

Hey Jonathon.

I'm the guy that keeps the ATM's going so you can get cash rather than a web guru.

I've tuned as much as I know how...turned off avatar's, signatures but it is still only average. I think the link from the US to AUS add's some lag in there as well.

If you can point me at ANY setting; I'm willing to try it.

One thing you can do is click on a thread with the right mouse button and let it load in a new window

ie: "open in a New window"

Then read a link that you allready have open
then when your ready go to the new window as it will be loaded by now and read it as you are loading another link.

also set internet explorer so it doesnt reload the pages unless you tell it to
from the Internet Explorer menu
Tools
Internet Options
General (Tab)
Temporary Internet Files
Settings
Check for newer versions of the stored page

and set that to NEVER

Then it will load from your cashe and not go out and see if there is a newer page on the net

The downfall is that if you dont hit the refresh button every so often you will read the same pages over and over and think nobody is posting anything new

But a True ADDer would never forget to do something now would he

Hope this helps

You can also go into to user options and turn of images and signatures which may help it load quickly.

No there isn't an option to receive daily digests. Most Forums and BB's don't have that option. Other than MSN and Yahoo groups I have not seen any that do.

I had the same idea as Garry (or one of his ideas). You may need to make sure that the cache is big enough to store what you need, but it shouldn't need to be very big for addforums, particularly if its only the latest session you want it to remember. You could experiment with the 'work offline' options too (towards the end of the the file menu in IE5 I think and later versions - you can check out the help to see how that works - can't check so easily here as I am using a German Windows/IE version at the moment).

BBSes were "better" than this software... faster, and more complex. We had ANSI graphics if you wanted them, and NO GUI overhead!

You could create sub threads and keep track of them separatel from the main thread. I liked it.
