View Full Version : Do You Have Pets?
muffin47 10-14-05, 01:49 PM I have 2 cats and they help me calm down.....They are my babies...I talk to them a lot....They like it when I pet, brush, and give them a massage...They sit and sleep on me, and follow me around the house....I have taught them some commands, but they have also picked up some things on their own.....When I'm on the internet and sign off a voice says goodbye....As soon as they hear that they get up and leave the room, because they know I'm leaving, too.....My cats are Ragdolls......Their names are Kiwi & Bianca.
Do any of you feel better when you're with your pets?.....What type of pet do you have and what are/is their name?
Deb ;)
stori813 10-14-05, 04:41 PM Yes I have pets I love animals. :)
All of mine have been rescued or come from shelters.
I have 1 Lab dog who is under two years old.
She was abused and then abandon my Vet gave her to me.
She's insane and sweet all at the same time. LOL
I have 4 cats one is 19 years old and a female.
Another is 14 years old a diabetic and a female.
And I have two kittens from the same litter one's a female the other is male.
And I have a 30 gallon fish tank with Gold Fish.
My poor little Gecko passed away last year.
My partner has given up on saying no more pets.
Because they somehow just find there way into our home. :D
I have a kitty cat named Peaches. She is a beautiful orange tabby cat.
Ive had her since October 2001. I will post a pic soon.
happycat 10-14-05, 07:11 PM I have a tiger cat with white swirls all over his belly, and a racoon-striped tail. He's a year old, and amazing!!! I take him wherever I go--he's seen the East Coast, Deep South, and now the West Coast with me--he's loves to travel.
And if I ever forget to feed him, he makes sure I remember--he doesn't care about my ADD ;)
bythesea 10-14-05, 08:08 PM How cute about the cats leaving the room when the computer says "goodbye"! :)
I have 2 cats, littermates - mutt cats/domestic shorthair. I can't believe they are 10 yrs old. Boy and Girl. Monty is big and a little pudgy, I forget how big he is until someone new sees him and says "that's a big cat!", but I've seen bigger. He's orange and white, soft fur. Lilly is mostly white with kind of black and orange calico markings. Her fur is so soft and fine she feels like a bunny.
Like muffin's cats they are kind of my little kitty-cat children. They "talk" to me and follow me around and sleep on me. They know the word "treats." They have lived with me in 3 states now, and they do not care for car travel. But at least I've figured out a system that works when we travel long distances. If I'm going just a short distance to the vet, there is much yowling and meowing and pawing at the carrier door.

A Jack Russell Terrier named Barney, who's just as ADHD as I am !!!
He lives with his daddy in Ohio.
He's going on eight years old...but I still remember him looking like a 'guinea pig' the day I got him, at 4 weeks old..
Used to stare at me all the time..as if he's just daring me to really tell him what to do...:)

livinginchaos 10-14-05, 11:06 PM I have 2 cats. Bianca (who is actually a boy, it's a funny story) and Romeo.
They keep me company while I'm studying, they meet me at the door when I come home and remind me to relax. I love that they're independent, but they also enjoy attention.
Bianca used to be a BRAT (he bit and scratched people, often!), a friend and vet told me that Bianca will most likely settle down if I get him a friend who is calm. So, I got Romeo. It worked! Romeo calmed Bianca so much; he's a completely different cat! Although, they fight a lot.
Bianca is the black cat and Romeo is the orange/white cat.
I've kept a Japanese Fire-Bellied newt for the last 10 years.
She says "hi," and wonders where the worms are hiding....
pembroke 10-15-05, 10:52 AM 2 cats and 1 dog.
tribble is 17; black, long-haired. hubby rescued her from the engine block of a truck.
emma is 2, half siamese and very smart and fun.
Fenway is a mixed breed mutt of a dog. he has lhasa apso, cocker spaniel and jack russell in him. a clown. he is 11 months old.
fasttalkingmom 10-15-05, 11:50 AM Do any of you feel better when you're with your pets?.....What type of pet do you have and what are/is their name?
I have 3 cats and 2 fancy rats. I love my "babies" as well
Dixie_Amazon 10-16-05, 11:00 AM Border Collie - She was abused by someone. She was 7 months old when we got her and we where her 4th owners! So shy that no one knew we had her unless we told them. She is 10 now and much better.
Boxer - Found running loose and very thin. We ran found ads and called area vets trying to find her owners. She was about 7 months old when we found her too. She is a great and very outgoing dog.
6 Turtles - 4 Red Eared Sliders and 2 Mississippi muds.
Tropical Fish - Assorted
I also just set up a 1 gallon tank in the kitchen for a Betta.
If I bring any more animals home my DH with divorce me. ;)
crime_scene 10-16-05, 11:30 AM two cats, one white one: Snowflake, one beige tabby: Sweet Pea.
I rescued both from the local HS.
It's funny you mention, but when my pc says goodbye, they only pay attention if it's night time, and they meaow and hang around hoping I'll invite them to the kitchen for a bed time snack.
They are both quite affectionate, and get a long pretty well...the only game they really play together is mock fight or tag, where they race all over the house with their tail's curled and their cat_behinds bouncing in the air as they run.
Here is my cat Peaches:
http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=307
crime_scene 10-16-05, 11:55 AM Peaches is very gorgeous, is she as red as she looks in the picture??
mctavish23 10-16-05, 12:00 PM We have 2 dogs: "Duffy (McDuffys' Rough & Ready)," an irrepresible Wheaton (not quite white) Scotty & "Remi (Remington Steal Your Heart)", another Cairn (Toto) terrier like mctavish23 (Angus McTavish the 23rd).
Peaches is very gorgeous, is she as red as she looks in the picture??
Just about :) She is just very slightly faded
stori813 10-16-05, 03:00 PM Great thread Muffin47!
I love hearing other people's animals stories.
By the way one of my cats is named muffin. lol
LilPoot 10-18-05, 04:58 AM I have 2 spoiled rotton cats. We did have another but he passed away over a year ago. :( We also have (too many to count) barn cats. Our 2 never go outside, they are strictly indoor. But they wish they could go out. hehe
Oh yea, their names are Gordon & Lil Angel.
The barn cats there are too many to list again. LoL... But they all have names!
muffin47 10-19-05, 06:06 PM Hi livinginchaos,
When I named my cat Bianca I thought it was unique....Don't you think it's a pretty name for a cat?...You're cats are very cute.....But I think all cats are.
Deb
muffin47 10-19-05, 06:28 PM Stori813,
Thanks....I thought it would be interesting to hear about peoples pets....Most people consider them as children.......Cats are my favorite, but I like all animals. My cats have beds for every room that I'm in....They follow me around in the mornings meowing, until I sit down somewhere.....Then they get in their beds or sleep on my lap.......Deb
muffin47 10-19-05, 06:33 PM Hi Gil R,
When I clicked on the peaches address I got a not authorised screen.....Do you know why?
Deb
bythesea 10-23-05, 03:44 AM Just for fun and out of curiosity to see if it works, going to try posting a picture of my cats.
Darn - I did insert image and pasted the link to the photo in my album but just got a little red x. :( I don't see anything to let me add it as an attachment and under posting rules says "you may not post attachments". Which seems strange since I saw newbies posting pictures under the Faces with Names thread under introductions. Oh well.

I have it uploaded to Photobucket now...It should work...Try this:

karennerak 10-23-05, 11:56 AM I was brought up with a Family Dog, that i adored...
He was a sensitive dog and always pushed his nose into my face, when he sensed i was upset.
It was a calming feeling, to stroke him.
When i left home at the age of 18, i bought a Yorkshire Terrier and if it wasn't so over-active, he would have settled down long enough for me to stroke him!
I got him a Female friend and she was a delight to have around.
The two dogs died tragically.
Years later i bought a Kitten, who was a joy to play with and stroke, but once she grew into a cat, i found i was allergic to the oils in her fur!
I'm unable to stroke my cat... but the kids give her loads of attention.
I've been looking in advertisements, for a ***** Charles Cavalier Spaniel... Because as much as i love dogs, i really don't like big dogs (a phobia from childhood)... I look forward to many years of the Happiness of petting ;)

Okay, I'm going to just try putting in my link for mine instead of doing the insert image thing.

I love your cats.....They are very pretty.

stori813 11-13-05, 05:37 AM Updating my pet list. LOL
Saturday I adopted a little all black cat.
The Pet Smart store has cats there for the SPCA and that's where I saw her.
I was there getting gold fish.
But I always go over and pet the cat's.
As soon as I laid eyes on her I knew she'd fit in around here. :)
I have 3 cats and 2 fancy rats. I love my "babies" as well
 :D
What colour/variety of fancy rat are they Fasttalkingmom?
My pets:
Cat 1:Black,non pedigree domestic, has various names-Samianther officially, nicks are Stink-princess and Sam,my sister calls her Spud and Pumpkin although I have no idea why she calls her those.
She's 13 and is a house cat,she tries to get away with doing as little as possible, and will attempt to sleep in places where she is not allowed when the human is out of the room.
Cat2:Gold/black/a little brown and white,ex ferral, about 5 years old but looks and acts like a kitten, she used to hate being inside, but she has domesticated well, and likes sleeping in beds up high or next to radiators.
She likes her food and scrounges off neighbours via her looks and charm.
Not sure if she still does this, but we often think she's pregnant because of the weight she's put on(she isn't pregnant)from her extra begging. :D
Rat group 1:Tux,Shadow and Bucky-they are Himalayan fancy rats (all bucks),they were born visually impaired although do have some sight I think, they are old boys now, but they still like to be taken out to roam, and like to play tug of war as well.
Rat group 2: Khan,Akira,Ryo and Turok-they are all hooded rexes (Akira+Ryo=black hooded,Turok Agouti hooded) apart from Khan(who is just Cinamon hooded-has smooth fur)They're young lads and have only been with me since about..October,they like piling on top of each other to sleep, and climbing up my back.
pembroke 11-13-05, 12:30 PM re: animals responding to mechanical commands: my dog will jump down off the end of the easy chair when he hears the phone ring. he has learned that a ringing phone means the chair is going down, and he loses his spot. that one was an easy train....now if i could just get him to stop barking!
aneededchange 11-13-05, 06:22 PM I currently have several pets:
Ibn (cat-gray and black tabby): was a rescue. He and fiance hated each other ... so I had to let the cat live with my adopted grandpa. Both the fiance and the cat are happier now.
Fat-boy (european hampster - black): just your typical hampster. :)
Zara (Mutt: part border collie for sure): this puppy is a rescue about 5 months old. and I THINK she has ADHD. LOL She is very smart and is the light of our lives.
There you go ...
william tell 11-13-05, 11:21 PM One cockapoo that was left by the wife that my son fell in love with ,{if it were up to me I'd get rid of him -he smells bad ,two days after a bath even !
I'm currently trying to adopt a dog from a rescue group -a american bulldog mix ,the say mix but he looks bulldog

I now have to stray cats that I have 'informally' adopted, that I leave food and treats for outside (0:.
One is male, that I've named Lugh..he's white with very light beige patches, and the most incredible jade eyes..and when I call his name in a soft, sing song voice..those eyes go 'sleepy' and he purrs..and then he lies down and looks at me dreamy...
The other is a female..whom I've named Sophie..she is mid grey, with charcoal swirlies all over...and is extremely s-kittysh. She has the most beautiful, and mesmerizingly huge charcoal eyes.
If either one would decide one day that they would like to come in my apartment, they are more than welcome. Until they decide on their own..I'm just grateful to keep feeding them, for as long as they need me to do so.

I have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who I have always referred to as[b] "My Balancers", and this was before I was diagnosed.
They calm me and bring perspective and reality back into focus. Their names are Digby [Tri-colour] and Clancy [Blenheim].
Crazygirl79 11-20-05, 10:19 PM I have a beautiful pet cat called Whitey,he's very loving, very affectionate and loves to follow you around...he's kinda like a dog really
guitarista 11-21-05, 08:33 PM I've never loved a dog as much as Watson. He's a 90 pound mutt, part Sharpei, Sheppard, Akita,. Bulldog. When he was a pup he was as wrinkled as a full blooded Sharpei, but now the wrinkles are just around his head. He is a solid brown short haired dog with golden eyes and he sleeps about 20 hours of the day. He loves to be petted and he rolls his eyes around to you with such love in them. He even sleeps in our bed. The other night I was sleeping on about 1 foot of the edge of the bed and my husband says, "Can you scoot over a couple of inches?" . I was like, uh, no... tell Watson to give up some of his space!
TATTIES 11-24-05, 05:35 PM we have 2 dogs, both hungarian Vizlas, Haggis and Tatties the both have the canine form of ADD LOL totally nuts, but wouldn't be with out them

beccablue 11-29-05, 11:36 PM I have a pet human. I have trained her well. she gets me food, water, or treats when i ask her to. she picks up my poop in a timely manner or i yell at her. she adjusts her sleeping position promptly after i yell at her and poke her in the eye. i am very particular about my nighttime cuddling position.
she is excellent self-warming furniture. i could sit or lie or walk on her all day. when she refuses to recline to my liking i yell and slap her until she succombs to my will. it is necessary to be very firm with humans and make your needs known because they are not very bright. that is why her plants die, they do not yell at her like i do - well, and i like to munch on the plants.

Nova I work with someone that has a jack russell named Barney also:D
I have a little bit of a zoo, although it isn't to bad right now.

And 2 babies yet to be named
Then living w/ my mom who has 150+ rabbits... don't ask me to name em.
That's it for now
But yes I love my animals and they relax me.
EYEFORGOT 12-07-05, 07:39 PM Willie (as in William the Conqueror, General Patton's dog, my husband is a history nut). He's 3 and part pit bull, and a big loveable wuss who thinks he's a lap dog. He comforts me when I'm sad, very tolerant of my children and especially loves my oldest, keeps me warm at night, and intimdates strangers. Good dog.
Lightning is our Beta Fish. Still alive, which is a miracle. He likes it when I put my face close to the tank and makes fishy faces. I think he's lived this long due to extra attention. He gives me one more mouth to feed at night and a reason to make fishy faces.

desertotter 12-16-05, 08:28 AM Ive got one dog right now, Lady, she is about 3 years old right now... we think she is a 50/50 mix of golden retriever and border collie.
she is very smart, very friendly, and very patient. she is also a tad bit neurotic... perfect fit for me :eyebrow:
this is her on "her end" of the couch.... she likes the other end, but that's my spot. so the first command she learned was "lady! move to the other end".

sehrita 03-25-06, 07:47 PM I have 4 cats. I too feel like they are my "babies". Unfortunately, they will have to move in with my mom if I ever move in with my bf. He is asthmatic and allergic to them :(.
Two of my cat's photos are up here. One (Elvis) is my avatar and Toonces is my profile pic.
chloe516 03-25-06, 07:57 PM I have one cat. She is like a dog in a cat's body though, she likes to eat everything! Shoes, binders, paper, cords...:faint:
I have a Jack Russell Terrier named Wishbone. He is almost 6 years old and as energetic as ever. He loves to play as well as run, bark, and dig. He is extremely intelligent, alert, loving, and has me trained.

Meow ROFLMAO! :D
ClearConfusion 03-30-06, 10:17 PM My family has an English Springer Spaniel called Baloo. He's 8 years old and very sweet and loveable. He's not much for cuddling though, but he always wants to be close around. When I'm at the computer at my parents house he lies on the sofa in the same room and when my father is out cutting wood or something he sometimes has to tell Baloo that "We can't stand in the exact same spot!"
When I'm in the forrest with Baloo I don't need to use a lead.
We got a cat when I was 10. He was called Tuss and he was my best friend when I grew up. I had no friends in high school and then it was a great comfort to have him. He tragically died when I was 20.
Arachnodisiac 04-03-06, 12:26 AM I keep several arachnids (true spiders, scorpions and tarantulas) as well as snakes, and roaches and mice for feeders.
And 2 young sons. Though they frequently qualify as pests, rather than pets.
wintergirl 04-05-06, 01:57 PM I have a 13 year old cat whom I'm absolutely in love with. He's literally the "love of my life", I don't know what I would do without him. He brings me such joy and happiness, I always have a smile on my face when I look at him and he's so gorgeous too! :D
DimensionX 04-05-06, 02:28 PM i have a black long haired cat named maverick (i named him when i was little just after the first time i saw topgun) aka mave or mavey, he sleeps next to me if i'm ill and just stares at me for ages, also sleeps in my room if i'm away and greets me at the door, he once corners a german shepperd which was quite a comical sight, the poor thing was cowering in the corner of the garden yelping, had to shut the cat in the house and return the dog, maverick is around 8 yrs old i think, i love him so much, i was devestated when we almost had to put him down one time because he got hit by a car but he recovered, he now has like a question mark of a tail now because he's lost some of the control in it :( .
i also have a small tortoise named flash, got him from another owner who had to give him up because he broke another tortoises shell by bumping into it with his, he likes...the broom, needless to say he's a little lonely by himself.
I have a pair of Queensland heeler/border collie's, boy and girl littermates. 6 years old. Smartest, best dogs I ever had. Since their daddy was a Queensland heeler I gave them Aussie names (Sydney and Matilda). 'Tilda was just diagnosed with kidney disease. I'm crying as I write this.
chloe516 04-05-06, 09:53 PM Anyone had success toilet training a cat? I'm trying that right now. Day 4 going well except she knocked over the litter box last night, I think I need to secure it to the ground better...
meadd823 04-06-06, 01:53 AM I'm trying that right now. Day 4 going well except she knocked over the litter box last night, I think I need to secure it to the ground better
I have found most small kittens pretty easy to cat box train..... as long as they are of weaned age.. all I have ever done was shortly after feeding as place kitten in litter box and well they seem to figure out the rest. On rare occasion when first beginning I have observed the kitten "sniffing" or beginning "digging motions" I scoop them up and put them in litter box!
Older male cats who have been allowed to “Tom Cat” (gone un-neutered into adulthood) can be almost impossible to “train” even after getting neutered they will some times continue “marking territory” This is one of the reasons I got Mr. Mischief fixed shortly after he arrived here… I prefer to “mark” my territory with more pleasant aromas!
PicklesPears 04-06-06, 02:02 AM What the heck -- I know this is way, way, way after the fact, but I'm going to chime in. We've got 4 very spoiled cats that we've rescued from utterly desperate situations. They are so attached to me & they think I'm their real mommy & that's ok by me. :) They are such a comfort to me. Love them more than anything. Saw 70 Below or 50 Below or 30 Below or whatever the name of that film is & about had kittens! The way they left those dogs in the arctic for months on end to freeze & starve. I took my great-niece -- a kid's film. I was shouting under my breath the whole time, "Get the dogs! Go get the dogs! Hurry! Go get your dogs!"
PicklesPears 04-06-06, 02:10 AM The kitten knocks the box over? Is it too tall on the sides for him? My style is to stay with the kitten and just put them in the box every so often. "I love ya. Oh, look! We're in the litter box. Wow, let's see mommy scratch & paw at it, wow you can too (move their paws in the litter) Good boy! Good job! What a good boy!" They jump out generally and act clueless, but they get the picture in short order with this positive approach. Works for us anyway. :)
meadd823 04-06-06, 02:50 AM I have a bull dog named Lady....I bought her for $20.00 (all I had was laundry quarters) in November of 2001. A man who lost home and job and needed money for gas to parents house in town 175 miles away, Lady was all he had except the clothes on his back and an old car! Her eyes were still blue!
She is very special...... she is my bud. She keeps me company by following me around the house she will lay down next to where I am sitting, except when I am cursing computer...when I curse or become annoyed she makes herself scarce!
She sleeps at the foot of my bed or next to the couch depending on which one I am in when my body decides to stop wiggling for a couple of hours. When ever it thunders out she gets all nervous and tries to lay as close to me as she can... she has never been allowed on the furniture or in the beds (she is a big dog who sheds a lot) so she will lay herself right up against bed or couch and shake so I wake up vibrating!
She travels in truck well and is good in hotel rooms.. she doesn't chew or damage things....and servers as a weirdo deterrent! She rarely barks especially in house unless it is some thing really bad-fires, pepping Toms ect) She is friendly so I don't have to worry about her around other people, rarely meets a stranger. Won't jump on small children or the fragile. she is "sensitive" that way. However she does have a very neat way of positioning her self between me and some one she sees as " up to no good". I can tell by her different body language she is protecting me but doesn't appear out wardly aggressive to some one who doesn't know her...... if strange angry guys gets to close she quits being "big baby" morphs into "pit bull mode" seen it once in the five years I have had her! Kind of freakish!
meadd823 04-06-06, 03:00 AM Forgot to copy nad past part of post above...having an ADD day :o
Mr. Mischief is Gary's cat. He picked Gary. He adopted "us" January of 2003...we saw him around the pallet yard about a for about week he would sit at the very edge of the pallets and watch us...then he got where he would get in pallet yard but refused to come up to us.....About two days before big ice storm while Gary and I were out side hitting things with hammers and shooting off nail gun this cat just walked right up and began to meow.....He refused to come to me but went straight to Gary...Me he tolerates Gary is his human no matter what we humans think.
Mr. Mischief kills any big ugly bug that gets into the house and keeps snake population down in pallet yard. He got his name from an incident shortly after Valentine’s day. Gary gave me flowers....I awoke a day latter to find flower portions of my silk plants chewed off! Gary found flower portions in his work shoes! Mr. Mischief also frequently leaves Gary gift just out side of his drivers side truck door in the morning! Gary tried to teach Lady to fetch a ball one time. The cat learned instead! The dog still won't fetch.. she just sits there and watches the cat retrieve ball and bring it to Gary!
Pets part of family..............
Two thumbs up to those who have adopted abused, neglected, abandon animals!!!!

william tell 04-06-06, 11:26 AM I have a american standardshire terrier mix or pit bull mix
I don't know because I rescued her from a dog rescue group, she is about 70lb.s,solid muscle, and still puppyish , working on housetraining and doing well and shes very very affectionate which is common to the breed , another common trait is that she loves to play and with the energy of the terriers it's alittle much for the boys. She likes other dogs but if they show aggresion to her she leaps into the fray and she is only allowed to play with large dogs like the dobie next door , I've read that since they were bred for fighting they do not have fear , and play very rough and if the other dog sarts snapping because they have had enough the the pit snaps back untill it's full out war .
Still waiting for her response to cats, I read they kill them if they catch them so I hope none jump into my yard
witsend 04-06-06, 01:55 PM Hey Will, Some friends of mine have 3 cats & two pits & they get along just fine...if you're going to introduce them do it while she's young. I think any dog can get along with cats but just like ppl not all dogs will. My parents have a shephed mix that will kill a cat if it comes into their yard, almost did once..
ANYWAYS....
We have two dogs...a dobie X, Harley, she's 13 y/o & really starting to show her age we've had her since she was 2 months. & we have a rat terrier, Hershey (gives kisses), I think she's 7. We got her from the internet (www.petfinder.com (http://www.petfinder.com)), a rescue. She was abandoned at the vet when her military family had to move. She's weird sometimes I think that's why.
We also have 5 cats....A big grey male named...you guess it...Smokey Joe. He's 10 & reminds me of Cramer on Sienfeld. Clumsy. Another BIG FAT male named Buddy who we got as a kitten for my brothers & they couldn't keep him b/c he cried al day while they were at work & the neighbors complained so we took him back hoping to find a home for him & he's still here 2 yrs later. He's the brother to the one in my avatar that we don't have any more. But we do have her babies that are now 1 yr old, Tubby Baloo, George & his twin Gracie, the only girl of the bunch. They're all tabby with bullseyes on their side. Tubby is grey & white & the twins are black & brown. We have a hermit crab named Speedy (we've had him for a yr..how long do those things live anyway? he's sooo neglected) & his tank mate, a frog named what else? Hoppy.
chloe516 04-06-06, 10:03 PM The kitten knocks the box over? Is it too tall on the sides for him? My style is to stay with the kitten and just put them in the box every so often. "I love ya. Oh, look! We're in the litter box. Wow, let's see mommy scratch & paw at it, wow you can too (move their paws in the litter) Good boy! Good job! What a good boy!" They jump out generally and act clueless, but they get the picture in short order with this positive approach. Works for us anyway. :)actually my cat's three years old, I have heard of cats being trained to use the toilet and am trying that. I loathe changing the litter box and figure it's worth a try! ;)
She's pretty adventurous, frisky, and loves climing on everything. Supposudly that's the best personality for toilet training.
I really, really, really hope it works. It's so hard to take this slowly, delayed gratification is not my strong point!

I tried that last year when my kittes were only a few months old & one of them was too heavy for the insert dealy. what are you using? here's the link to what I found www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet (http://www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet) ...wish my husband was more into it--he thought I ws crazy & made me quit b/c it "bothered" him. PTTTHHHH!!!:p
Keep us updated, I would still like to do this...
chloe516 04-06-06, 10:30 PM I'm actually using the same website! She mentioned using a metal bowl to help with the weight problem, so I think I'll go with that since my cat's not a kitten anymore. I'm still at the stage of raising the box, it's almost level with the toilet, we just started Sunday, but it seems to be good. Just the one minor problem of the litter box tipping over, but I figured out how to make it more secure. I'll definitely keep you posted. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works! It would be so much easier to just flush for her rather than deal with the litter and the box.:D
I think people who I tell think I'm crazy, but I'm more concerned with trying not to rush it! I don't do well with things that take a while. If it works It'll be seen as "cool" not "crazy!" ;)
ClearConfusion 04-06-06, 11:09 PM I have a pair of Queensland heeler/border collie's, boy and girl littermates. 6 years old. Smartest, best dogs I ever had. Since their daddy was a Queensland heeler I gave them Aussie names (Sydney and Matilda). 'Tilda was just diagnosed with kidney disease. I'm crying as I write this. I'm so sorry to hear that. :(
Thank you ClearConfusion,
She such a sweet dog, I hate to see her suffering. Its hard to know what to do.
witsend 04-07-06, 04:17 AM My dog is getting older & I can only imagine how hard it will be for me when she starts to really suffer problems due to that. I had a cat that had cancer & to see my beloved Good Kitty suffer was terrible. I truley feel for you. ((((hugs))))
william tell 04-07-06, 04:30 AM Yeah , I feel for you , ihad to put down my buddy reggie of 13 yr.s -a blonde cockapoo -he was so cool and hell on wheels when younger I never had to leash him in fact I train all of my dogs to go without, it's all about trust and friendship
I have a Jack Russell Terrier named Barney.
He's medium haired (as opposed to the short hair one in the movie Mask and the long hair one in the movie Phenomenon) short legged, all white with just a brown patch around his right ear.
He lives with my first ex husband back in Ohio, and he'll be nine years old on December 24.

chameleon 04-10-06, 06:18 AM I have a mini doxie named Daisy and 2 hamsters (brothers) named Herman & Sherman. :D
If I had my way I'd have 42 dogs, 457 cats, and 245 hamsters! OH! And 9488 horses! Ooh! And some bunnies!
addinbc 04-10-06, 07:22 AM If I had my way I'd have 42 dogs, 457 cats, and 245 hamsters! OH! And 9488 horses! Ooh! And some bunnies!Ha ha! I hear you!
We've seen some of the adorable photos of Herman and Sherman ;) :p .
We have a little Border Collie/Australian Shepherd cross named Katie who my parents spoil rotten!! But she's such a sweet and funny little thing. She has a game where she'll steal a sock from the basket/chair/floor/bed/etc..., look at you, put her ears down, and run down the hall so you have to chase after her - little imp! :) :p
We also have a little black and white cat named Kelly. We call her the 'perma-kitten' because she is tiny (also because she is now 12 years old, and she still plays and runs around as though she were just a kitten :)). However, what she lacks in size she makes up in personality! Wow, it's amazing how much personality can be packed into such a little thing! She definitely rules the roost at my folks' place! :D
And my sister and brother-in-law have a one and a half year old Border Collie/German Shepherd cross who is the SMARTEST dog I have ever met!! She just amazes me! She's also spoiled rotten ;) :p
chameleon 04-10-06, 07:26 AM Lol! Your pets sound WONDERFUL!
I bet that dog is so cute playing the sock stealing game!
My dog Daisy tries soooo hard to talk! She sits up on her hind legs (what little there is of them) and stares at me intently while saying, "Wowooo wawowah wahwoo wa woo woo".
It's so cute!
She thinks she's people. So when we ate dinner she was always a little indignant that she didn't get served a plate too! Now I serve her a plate of food
Spoiled ya' think? :p

Ha Ha - that's really funny!
They really do try to talk, don't they! They probably think it's US who can't talk. I mean, "c'mon," they must think, "everyone knows what 'Wowooo wawowah wahwoo wa woo woo'" means :p :D.
chameleon 04-10-06, 07:43 AM LOL! Yeah!
And I wonder if they do think they're people! Especially since they've always lived with people. They probably think we all just have some sad birth defects. :p
adhdxyz 04-10-06, 09:21 AM We have 4 dogs and 1 cat. (The city limit is 2 animals. Period.)
We have a shiztu named Missy who is 10. We have another shiztu named Jenna who is around 3 or so. We have a big mixed breed dog named Precious who is approx 11. We kept one of her puppies named Kelsey who is around 8 or so. And we have a cat named Puddin who is ????? They are all girls and neutured.
We got Precious from a niece of a friend of mine approx 11 years ago. We were walking into the pet store to buy dog food. There sat my friend and her niece. The niece was 9 months (or what looked like 15 months) pregnant, crying because she was getting ready to have a baby, getting ready to move into a trailer and couldn't keep her dog that was barely a year old. Of course, since my husband is add and I am adhd, "we fell for it hook line and sinker". They followed us home and we kept the dog. We didn't realize that it was a ***** dog and it got knocked up immediately by every dog in our zip code. So we had a litter of huge puppies that all looked different. :)
The 2 big dogs are great, and relatively maintenance free. It's the 2 shiztus that are the trouble. One (the 10 year old) will pee outside "unless" we have carpet. She wont pee on tile or hardwood but if there's even a small rug in the bathroom, she'll pee on it. She's done this for 10 years. She is so humble and sweet, but a rug pee-er.
We got the younger shiztu from a no kill animal shelter that my friend works at. She was only 8 or so weeks old when we got her. Someone rescued her from a breeder that was going to auction her off for breeding purposes. They paid big bucks to rescue her. My friend immediately called us because we already had a shiztu and we only paid $75 which included shots. She's so spazzy but very cute.
My goal before I die is to have carpet.
chameleon 04-10-06, 09:22 AM LOL
I hear your pain.
I'm about to move into a new place where they just laid down Berber carpet throughout.
I hate Berber carpet.
My little dog will scratch at it and pull one thread loop loose and unravel the whole floor!
