My husband and I have decided that we are going to try for a baby!!! Very exciting! but scarey too since I take 40mg of Strattera, Does any of you have any suggestions on meds and pregnancy, of course I WILL NOT take my meds while pregnant, Do you think that taking meds for ADD now will effect me getting pregnant or not getting pregnant? I plan on going off my meds before we start trying I am under a doctors care, who wants to plan when we start trying, because of my meds.

Thanks!!!!!

I think you will be MORE than okay without the medications. It is unhealthy to take ANY kind while being pregnant. I have never been pregnant, but I have done extensive research on it because I want to be a mother in the future and I want to make sure I'm somewhat prepared lol. Pregnancy is already a stressful time. Women are forgetful, anxious, moody, etc. on their own while carrying a child and are HIGHLY encouraged to relax and take it easy. Plus, it sort of forces you to maintain a healthy diet and exercise which are both very therapeutical for AD/HD. The medications will little to no affect on your chances of getting pregnant. It is usually a family history that will lessen your chances. Just get a thorough physical done, get blood work to check your levels, and that should be enough to let you know if you are in good shape to pop your belly :D I think you should discuss it with your hubby, your doctor, and yourself. You will do what's best. Good luck sweety!

I don't think the meds will effect whether or not you get pregnant, but take it from me, WEAN yourself off now. I was taking adderall, and was a heavy coffee drinker. I had morning sickness, AND was trying to adjust to almost no caffeine and meds. It was horrible. Don't wait til the last minute. Morning sickness by itself is tough.

Thank you for all of your input, it is soo difficult to know when you are newly diagnosed, I have been on strattera now for approx. 8mo. so hopefully going off the meds won't be difficult for me, and I am not a caffine person, if anything caffine make me soo tired, I can't stay awake.
I am going to doctors next Tuesday for blood work and exams (yahoo!!) to make sure everything is a go :O)
I am away from my family and friends, they all support me but it's hard with them not physically being here for support with this..so I really appricate any input and all the kind and helpful words that you have given me..very sweet :O)

Thanks a bunch!!!!
