Well, I'm finishing up my 3rd week on Strattera. Currently on 40mg & doing well, although I have noticed a persistent dry mouth & increased gas (how embarrassing!) as about the only side effects.

I started on the 18mg, then 25 mg, and finally 40mg. (1 week of each) sample pack. I take them in the morning w/ breakfast.

Good news is that I feel slightly more "tuned in" to the details in my environment. My short term memory is slightly better & I'm not as forgetful. My attitude is much improved, and I am generally happy & not constantly grumbling about things. That alone is worth the side effects!

I'm going to review my results with my doctor & see what he thinks, but I feel ready to either increase the dosage slightly and/or get a month's worth of medication.

I've read all I can about Strattera here & it seems most people don't give it long enough or start out with very high doses & drop it because of severe side effects. Sure hope I am going to be a success on this medication... I am trying to do it right & give it a chance. Generally, I am satisfied with Strattera so far, but want to see if I can get a little more out of it.

If anybody is interested, I'll update my progress report later.

BTW: I was recently diagnosed and this is my 1st med. I'm a 37-y-o male, 6'1" tall, approx. 210 lbs. Hope this gives you an idea about the dosage's effects compared to my body size.

Good to hear a success story (so far) with Strattera for once :)

Hope everything continues to go well!

Hey there...I am also on my third week, but unlike others, I decided to hang in there and get over the side-effects, after all, "no pain, no gain" as they say. The reason I quoted you is that I also feel the same effects...my attitude is also much improved, but I am also on Zoloft, but was contributing it to this instead of the Strattera.

I really don't know what to expect on this stuff, but we shall see!
Let us know what happens down the road.

Per my doctor's suggestion, I'll be jumping up to 60mg this week. I'll let you know what happens.

Strattera is the only med I am taking, and although I generally feel better, I can't help but wonder how much of it is placebo & how much is the med.

Great to hear some positive comments about Strattera. :D

Strattera is also know to have some anti-depressant qualities. This may also be the reason why you are feeling good.

Strattera is prescribed based on weight. 80mg to 100mg is the dose you might eventually reach. I am 170 lbs and I am at 75mg.

I'm gonna try Strattera as long as time permits, I really don't want to go back to generic Adderall. I barely got any sleep with that stuff, and I had way too many side effects.

I haven't notcied any good signs in my focusing behavior though, but then again it's only my fifth day.

Week 4:

60mg tablets seem to be no problem. I haven't noticed an increase in effects or side effects. I'll be on the 60mg for one more week before we decide to move it up or not.

BTW, the doctor told me that when you reach your dosage limit, you begin to feel "fuzzy". So far, nothing like that is happening, so I'm guessing I'll be able to tolerate a higher dosage.

Another side effect that I failed to mention earlier is an increase in dreams. I've heard others mention this, and the fact that they seem to be more vivid. I can attest to that! whereas in the past I never seemed to dream much and couldn't remember them beyond 15 minutes after waking, I am now having memorable dreams every night. It's kinda fun; I can't ever remember having so many dreams!

I've been on 80mg for two weeks now & am really feeling good! I mean, I feel SHARP mentally! Side effects have almost entirely gone (except occasional dry-mouth) and I've had no new ones. No "fuzzy' feeling as others have described.

I guess this is about 6 weeks on Strattera now. I'm totally happy with it! My short-term memory is much, much better & my concentration has improved imeasurably. As a matter of fact, I'm starting to remind my wife about things now! Talk about turning the table!

I will be doing a few more weeks of 80mg & may try 100mg. I'll keep posting updates.

That's great, Fencewatcher! When I took Strattera I had the same positive results. It was like a miracle drug. Unfortunately I was taken off of it and put back on so many times, that it eventually just stopped working. I hope you continue to have success with it!

If it continues to work, I'm not going to stop using it. My only concern is continuing to up the dosage in my quest to find the optimum amount. I don't want to overstep the limits & end up feeling "foggy", then back off & not have the same effectiveness.

Anybody else had that experience?
