Has anyone ever been to a naturopathic doctor for treatment of ADD? I made an appointment to see one a couple of weeks from now. It will be expensive as hell but I would rather try more natural remedies first and use prescriptions as a last resort.

Then drink coffee...best natural stimulant out there...and cheap...although I don't how many cups you are going to have to drink during the day. :)

Yes I have seen a naturopath for my ADHD and it had some benefits....I was on this treatment for 2 months and it worked relatively well.

Go for it Worrywort!!! I'll tell you it does work!! but your son will probably hate the foul tasting potions he gets given and yes unfortunately the symptoms of ADHD will probably come back if you stop the treatments...no worse than before you started the treatment but nevertheless they will come back and it's probably best to stay on it long term but your naturopath will determine what is best as each case is different and not only that the same naturopathic medicines used for ADHD can also be used for other things such as digestive disorders, general well being etc etc.

There has been numerous amounts of research to prove that it does work!!

Good Luck

thanks for your prompt response crazygirl79, can i ask you a personal question, im new to the forum & im very concerned for my son, he has had adhd sypmtoms from 2yoa but i thought he would outgrow it cos it was terrible two's, however he is in kindy & his teacher recommended i see a paediatrician & the dr confirmed last wk he has adhd, however he isn't as severe as some peopl, both his teacher & i r working on strategies & good structure at home & he has improved since starting kindy, i would like to know when u were diagnosed and how u coped as a child and wat strategies worked for u and as an adult do u still need meds or have you learnt to controll urself with maturity, r u able to lead a normal life or does it still effect u,
thanks and u don't have to answer any questions if you don't want to :D

Worrywort.

I'm not on any medication or treatment right now but I've found a lot of positive self re-enforcement helps a great deal...yes there are hard times but I manage and yes some people still need medication as adults.

If you want anymore information just send me a PM (private message)

NOTE: I was only speaking for myself when I said that Naturopathy works..I was on the treatment for 3 months and it was for ADHD and Depression and I personally found that it did produce minimal but good results eg: improved concentration, mood swings were less and I was able to sleep better at night.

This is NOT a "magic cure" or a quick fix, it's only an alternative treatment for when conventional medication is no longer the best option and just because it worked for me...it may not work for someone else and if you want any information on any aspect of Naturopathy then there's plenty of it on Google, Yahoo, MSN and various other search engines.

There are many treatments, conventional and alternative that have it's pros and it's cons ....the only real advice that can be given here is "Go with what works best for YOU"
