OK, so like 2 mins ago, i just found out what Procrastinating meant! LOL
I procrastinate all the time, especially with school. I procrastinate with my
chores too. for example:

MOM: "Gil, can you please take out the trash?"

ME: "OK..."

*40 mins later*

MOM: "Gil, why didnt would take out the trash like i asked you to 4 minutes ago??"

ME: "I Don't want to...Ummm....Eh screw it."

*1/2 a week later the trash is still there*

Mmhmm

Yes, yes it does all the time. I think it's ADD, but I always feel like im using ADD as an excuse almost. I haven't taken any meds yet, but I am going to eventually. I wonder if that would get rid of the procrastination? hmh,

Wouldn't it be great if a single pill could make you smart? :eyebrow:

I have a REAL hard time with Book Reports or other long-term assignments
for school! If I have a book report due 2 weeks from now,I always wait until
the night before its due to do it!

Yup, I had that problem for a long time. After I got diagnosed, I started paying attention to how I acted so I could see how/where the ADD was affecting me.

One major thing I noticed was I kept putting things off even if they were incredibly simple - like if I wanted to file a piece of paper, I'd start walking towards the filing cabinet, then just when I was about to get to the cabinet I'd put down the paper and walk away telling myself I'd file it later.

So I discovered my thoughts for getting almost anything done is - "I'll do this now...no, I'll do it later." And then nothing would get done.

What I did to work around that was add another thought at the end, so now my thought goes: "I'll do this now...no, I'll do it later. No, I'll do it now."

Now I'm pretty well organized and productive, though I still have my lapses.

Try it. It's a neat trick, though it might feel a bit uncomfortable and get mentally tiring in the beginning.

I find that I can relate to this problem, alot, right now I am putting off a cemsitry lab, shower looking for money for a shirt and thats about it. Wait my room to, its needs a clean.

I find I find something else that I would rather do, instead of what I need to get done. If I need to do math homework, I might find I that I rather go for a run or listen to the radio or watch TV or something. I find I say that'll listen to the radio for 15 minutes and then do the math. My promblem is the 15 turns into 45 and the 45 turns into hours. And then soon it is 10PM, 11PM and it is to late for me to fuunction.

I think I can do everything later. I can't. Time and Time again experience has proven this.

I used to think I work good under pressure, and than I heard a radio show about Procrastination and the guy they were interviewing was a psycologigy professor/doctor and he saying that poeple with this promblem don't work well under pressure; they only work under pressure. I find this to be an interesting point, and probably true.

One thing I do, with some sucess is I will tell someone, it has to be someone I respect, someone that I would not want to lie to, that I going to do whatever I need to get done done. I find that sometimes not being accountable to my self but being accountable to one of my peers makes me more likely to do what I need to get done. its sometimes works.

something I should try is forceing myself to get what I need to get done done first before i do stuff i want to do. it likely it won't happen, but i'll try to work on it.
