OVERALL
I am writing to reassure people because I am a Strattera success story (thus far). I've been on Straterra 3 days and I already notice the benefits and I have virtually no side effects. My body is happily tolerating Strattera and so I am a HUGE Strattera fan.

MY STORY
I was diagnosed with ADHD for the 1st time about a week ago. This is the first time I have ever tried any type of stimulant, antidepressant, or other mental health drug. And after reading voraciously about ADHD and medication, I was eager, but scared.

CURRENT SITUATION
Today is Day 3. While the effects are subtle, I can tell it's working. I space out less, I can think clearly, and I can finally put my thoughts of paper. All I wanted is a drug to "slow" down the ideas that continually pop into my brain. Strattera is awesome.

DOSING
Day 1 - I started on 40mg with little problems. Day 2 - I took one 40 mg in the morning, but felt so lousy after the medication wore off, I took a second 40 mg in the afternoon. (Yes, against all doctors advice). I had absolutely no side effects. Day 3 - I took 40 mg this morning and I feel perfectly normal! No side effects to speak of, not even "sexual dysfunctional" effects, as my fiance can attest.

OVERALL SIDE EFFECTS
Slim to none.

SPECIFIC SIDE EFFECTS
My heart beat is up (my resting heart rate was 45, now it's about 75) as is my blood pressure, but since both were always low, that is not a problem for me. I do get very tired when the medication wears off (after 7 hours). And, I do sleep restlessly - especially since I used to need a foghorn to wake up in the morning. But again, I consider the side effects very slim.

Woohoo! I'm not the only one! :D Good for you, 31-year-old, for finding what works for you! :)

Strattera's been great for me, too, well worth the recent increase in cost. After a lifetime of having a crappy short-term and working memory, I'm pretty grateful to be able to remember things in my head and think on my feet for once. I can add numbers in my head! I took a visual pattern IQ test and scored in the 93rd percentile! That's amazing! No way could I have done that without medication. I wouldn't have even been able to finish the test.

Now, I learn more quickly because whatever can stay in my short-term memory can then move into my long-term memory. I can focus and actually get things done. I don't forget as many things I need to do, and I sit down and write out plans to solve my problems instead of running around franticly, wasting time. Thinking ahead! Who would've thought that I'd be able to think ahead!

However, it is not a magic pill that solves all of my problems and does not work for me if I don't get 8 or more hours of sleep a day, if I drink alcohol, or if I don't have my coffee in the morning. So, in a sense, it forces me to practice healthy habits (besides the coffee, but that's ok).

But, for someone who everyone thought was the village idiot for most of my lifetime and has been drained of all self-esteem, this medication has drastically changed my life into something beautiful and enjoyable......and something that I want to continue.

So, I wish you good luck with it, my friend!

I'm in the same situation. Great results on Strattera. Though I had bad side effects at 60 mg.

Caffiene really affects me. So coffee will scatter my brain, even while on Strattera. I've not noticed the Strattera having much of an affect on my couple beers a day. Though sometimes my face feels warm and flush after drinking.

I'm 29 and I've been on it for about a year-and-a-half.

Different medications certainly work best for different people, but for me personally - it's a wonder drug. I'm at 60mg, but no real major side-effects and it works great. Better memory, better attention to things, less spacey-ness. I'm able to hold solid, interesting conversations and

Before this I went through a few things including Concerta and Adderall - but in all cases the side-effects were too much and the benefit wasn't as great as with Strattera.

Hey guys, your are giving me hope! Just weening off Dexamphetamine (I am in Australia, thats the stimulant of choise down here) and moving onto Strattera. Have had a tough couple of years watching my mum die & I used the dex to get me thru the "pain" so to speak. So in the end I increased my meds up up up up until I had give myself a good slap and come clean with my Dr. Strattera is really new down here so there is really not no info.....Starting on 40mg from tomorrow... I hope I can still concentrate enuf to read!!!
