View Full Version : Sands of Time

Seems as though I've been walking forever
Along a shore, through the sands of time
The horizon is as far away as ever
A rising tide has nearly swept me off my feet

Looking back, no footprints left behind
Now I'll never know how long I traveled
No one will, it leaves me empty inside
Has all of this Life been in vain?

Collecting my thoughts and embracing silence
My pace has slowed to a labored trudge
Sand grinding away at my skin and patience
Wind in my hair, the water never looked so good

Thanks neuroangel....I grew up on a sandy shore.
I just look at the ocean and feel the vastness of our world and I know Life has not been in vain.
Your poem reflects sadness and probably speaks to most of us. Thank you.

Thanks Gourmet. It means a lot to get feedback on my poetry. Most people don't care. I love the beach -- during off season. Too many people clog the beach these days. I like to sit on the sand or boardwalk and just take in the scenery. The sights and sounds are so peaceful.
