View Full Version : Tip for long posters

Seems lately like several people have gotten caught typing a large novel, then refreshing the page for some reason, and losing everything they wrote...

A quick tip for anyone risking that: When you have written a long post, before you hit "Submit New Thread" or "Post Reply", just highlight it all and hit Ctrl-C. This will Copy everything you just wrote into memory. Then if you lose it for some reason and have to retype it, all you have to do is put the cursor into the message box and hit Ctrl-V (Paste).

For anyone who wants it even simpler, Copy and Paste are both commands in the Edit menu on your top left using Internet Explorer.

I just hate losing words, and I hate the idea of missing words others WOULD HAVE posted this way...

Great idea!

Translation for Mac users follows!

For the PC the select, copy, paste

CTRL+A,
CTRL+C
CTRL+V

For the Mac

Apple+A,
Apple+C,
Apple+V

The Apple key is sometimes also referred to as the "Command Key."

...Which is not defined in a dictionary, but is the way it is defined by Apple users. :)

I keep a text editor handy. I go at it. Save it. Then copy and paste into the form before I post.

I hate to admit this... I didn't realize that one could scroll down to see the other posts, in reverse order, from the screen while composing the reply, without leaving to go anywhere.
