My five year old son Noah was just dianosed and began taking straterra on the 19th of September. He started with 10mg with no problem for three days then moved up to 18mg dose and began having diarreah and stomach pain, then nausea and one incident of vommiting. Yesterday, which was the 27th he began to have terrible hives (itchy welts on his body). Has anyone experienced these symptoms?

Looking for an idea as to the median length of these side effects and whether or not anyone with hives has seen them subside.

Please help!

Much appreciated,

Hi Bonnie,

Please see the new Side Effects poll on strattera

As well as the many other Strattera side effects threads in this forum :)

Hives are a realitively serious allegic reaction regardless of the cause, but the cause should be interupted, what ever it is.

Don't waste time. Allergic reactions can get more severe rapidly.

Let us know what you find out!

Hives may also be triggered by stress, but regardless of cause...a call to the doctor is certainly warranted.

After speaking to my doctor I was told to take Noah off the straterra. I did try one more does to see if the hives persisted.. which they did but not continuously. I can only guess that the time released factor is what brings them on.

His teacher called me today and reported that he was like "a different child" in the classroom, and began telling me about all the changes she saw today. Great news!

However, now I am concerned that since we will be switching to another med, is it likely that he will experience the typical side effects all over again?

Has anyone had good results with concerta?
