and I recently was diagnosed with add though i've known for some time that I have it. Now it's the rollercoaster ride of medicine trials. I have been on so many meds for depression, pmdd and even bipolar II. But the Bipolar II was a miss-diagnosis. Anyhow, i'm 35yrs old, married with 4 kids. I'm wanting to start nursing school next fall when my youngest is in school. That's the plan but who knows. I just hope to get this add mess under control.
:p

Kathi: Welcome to the forums....It is nice to have you here. Yes my recommendation would be to get some stability with your meds before starting nursing school....but then when you do.....
I say go for it!!...My grandmother when she was alive...used to say health care was the thing to do....
and nursing, well I'm sure I don't have to tell you.....you will work VERY hard...but it is rewarding work....I think it's VERY ADD-friendly work...as there's always something exciting going on...you always get to feel smart....you get to feel useful and needed...it is a rewarding career and God knows you will always have a job....anywhere....anytime...the job market is loaded...

Joan,
It's funny that you said that cuz that's exactly how I feel. I wanted to get into a career where I can feel important and help people. I know I should feel important just for being a mom and wife and I know I'm needed but it's not the same. Being a mom and wife isn't work for me. It's just what I do. I don't feel smart for doing the everyday things but I think being a nurse will fill that gap. atleast i hope it will. lol. I suppose I have some self esteem issues to deal with too.
Welcome to Our Home away from Home and may you soon feel that were part of an extended family to you

I have an ADD friend who is a nurse and LOVES it! She just recently went from peds to adults...she eventually wants to become a forensic nurse...cool....
You'll find so many blessings here...thank you for adding yourself as one of them! :D
