View Full Version : Medications Chart Andrew 10-01-03, 08:13 PM Found this in a recent MSNBC Article. elSenor 10-12-03, 10:27 PM Just FYI - this chart is slightly misleading. This may seem obvious, but I may as well point out that none of the extended release formulations can be crushed or chewed. The ones marked "yes" can be opened, but not crushed. -Mike Tara 10-13-03, 12:09 AM Also in a lot of cases they are finding out that many of the longer acting stimulants don't last as long as they claim too. InattentiveType 10-14-03, 03:44 PM Depends on the individual. For me Concerta lasted much longer than 12 hours. akiss4u 05-03-04, 07:51 PM Originally posted by livingwithadd Also in a lot of cases they are finding out that many of the longer acting stimulants don't last as long as they claim too. You got that right sister!:D Ritalin LA lasts only 5-6 hours for me! It lasts all day for my husband though maybe us ladies have a higher metabolism. relvinnian 09-11-05, 10:27 AM You got that right sister!:D Ritalin LA lasts only 5-6 hours for me! It lasts all day for my husband though maybe us ladies have a higher metabolism. Even though there are sex-based differences in metabolism, they tend to be small and are overshadowed by inter-individual variability. Ritalin LA lasts 5-6 hours for me also. Back when I took it, I had to take it 2x/day. Adderall XR lasts around 6 hours for me also, whereas many people claim 8-10, and some claim 12 or greater. Also, studies of adults show that Strattera does not last 24 hours, and best results are obtained from BID dosing. This makes sense given Strattera's 5 hours half-life. Damita33 10-22-05, 01:07 PM my daughter is using Risperdal and Sttarrta together and i would like to know if anyone used Risperdal before My daughter has autism her other doctor told me that she had ADHD but she doesn't but I am not sure on the test they do for ADD/ADHD. My daughter is 7 year old now.she does good with both of them. Damita Ryan33:) Imnapl 10-23-05, 12:12 AM Damita, I have a young friend who has Asperger Syndrome, no ADD, and takes Concerta and Risperdal. They work very well for him, too. TodaysWonderful 02-07-06, 12:48 AM A somewhat more detailed chart can be found here: http://www.addwarehouse.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/article3.htm looneygirl 03-21-06, 12:53 PM Anybody on Cymbalta, I am on my 2nd month, I have only been on a couple of antidepr. med but side effects (sleepy, no sex drive) were so bad I could not handle them. I have taken Wellebutron on and off for years to quit smoking or depression. I tolerate it well but it does not seem to help in the last 6 months. I take one 300 mg of generic mg a day and also on 30 mg of generic adderal, I space it out about 3 times a day. I think Cymbalta is helping, makes me sleepy, but so far it has been known to have less side effects. Trouble is Cybalta is fairly new on the market. I researched a little and got infor from both sides bad and good. I think it is very individual. Also about the medications chart. I am on 30 mg but it does not work like it used to. I think the Cybalta is effecting the adderal. I have read in the forum some people are on 200 mg a day! I experimented one day taking 60 mg with not much diffent effect. I think I have a high metbolism. I weigh about 125. My same doctor has given my 60 year old add friend 30 mg 3 times a day generic (90 day) , but she only takes about on 30 a day. I guess on my next visit I could ask to go up. I can take 30 mg ex. release and it is worn off in about 3 hours, I can take 30 - 30 mg and lay down and sleep with no problem. Any opinion or infor. would be appreciated. chloe516 03-21-06, 09:01 PM I take Concerta 36 mg. still working on the dosage, not sure if it is right. For me, it lasts about 5 hours. I can also lay down and fall asleep when it kicks in. My Dr. said it is normal, just my brain actually slowing down so I can relax and fall asleep. Matt S. 03-22-06, 09:50 AM with concerta and adderall xr it had the time drop in both and was taking two doses of each with short actings of the med i was on in the evening and now i take dex and I am on two doses of long acting and i take 20 mgs of short acting along with the 30 mgs I take twice of the spansules 100 mgs daily... well over the 40 mg that the med chart from the addwarehouse recommends... it works well and i guess it is all about metabolism... i took 60 mgs of dexedrine at 10 years old in a simalar dosing pattern and it is a matter of a higher dosage and lasting longer with dex and it wasn't with the others Miss 05-23-06, 12:35 AM HELP!!! I don't see it.. or am I just blind Crazy~Feet 08-05-06, 07:04 PM Seems the link has been removed, this is an old post. Crazy  Andrew 08-05-06, 07:20 PM Check here: http://www.addwarehouse.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/article3.htm lars 08-05-06, 08:37 PM Check here: http://www.addwarehouse.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/article3.htm ADD Wharehouse claims to be "The Leading Resource for the Understanding and Treatment of All Developmental Dissorders, Including ADHD and Related Problems." However, I noticed that they left the drug Desoxyn off their list. Interesting. Leading resource for who then? I would have thought that by using adjectives like "leading," or "ultimate" to describe an ADD resource would imply that such a resource would include all the FDA approved treatments for ADD. Crazy~Feet 08-05-06, 08:39 PM Lars? Maybe its a statistical error or something? How about carrying on this Desoxyn campaign at the source...let the ADD warehouse know how you feel. Crazy  lars 08-05-06, 08:50 PM Lars? Maybe its a statistical error or something? How about carrying on this Desoxyn campaign at the source...let the ADD warehouse know how you feel. Crazy  Statistical error? You're probably right, it says that their medications chart was prepared for them by Dorothy Johnson, M.D. Desoxyn capaign? At the Source? I am not sure what you mean by either of those statements. I am not going to waste my time notifying the ADD wharehouse because I never go there, nor am I a member, so I seriously doubt they would listen to me. I happen to be a member here though, and since I am I thought I would point it out here for those who might not be aware of this error. If you want to assume that means I am "campaigning" then go ahead. I guess I would "campaign" the exact same way if Strattera, Ritalin, Adderall, or any FDA approved treatment was left off a list of treatments for ADD. Crazy~Feet 08-05-06, 09:30 PM Well, I just Googled for "commonly prescribed medications for ADHD" and got loads of pages with Desoxyn on them, right up there with the other medications. ::shrugs:: I am sure plenty of sites lump my Concerta in with "Ritalin" because it is methylphenidate. FWIW. Crazy  lars 08-05-06, 10:00 PM I am sure plenty of sites lump my Concerta in with "Ritalin" because it is methylphenidate. FWIW. Crazy  Concerta is not lumped in with Ritalin at the "ultimate" resource's list of medications, nor is it at the "leading" resource's list of medication either. :o Crazy~Feet 08-05-06, 10:23 PM http://www.mhasp.org/coping/resources/medications.html http://www.4-adhd.com/therapy-medication.html http://www.center4research.org/adhd.html Just a few that I snagged from my history, I really do not wish to continue along this line anymore. Crazy  Those are nice links. I did not see one that lumped Concerta in with Ritalin though. I'm not sure what you meant about continuing "along this line," but I guess you assume I am arguing with you? If so, I'm sorry you percieve this in that way. I'm not arguing with you, and I really am sorry if you feel that I am. cjfchris 08-30-06, 12:44 PM Found this in a recent MSNBC Article.Where is the chart??? Andrew 08-30-06, 06:38 PM Check here for a chart: http://www.addforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=322195&postcount=17 |
