Hi everyone :o)

I'm new to this forum, and I am so glad I found it! I feel so much more comfortable talking to people that may understand where I am coming from, and much less alone.

I was taking Paxil for my recently (within the last 2 months) diagnosed Panic Disorder (with a side of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, hooray) and once I made it past the 5mg mark I began to get suicidal thoughts and depressed as oppose to less panic and anxiety.

They took me off of that (they as in the Mayo Clinic doctors that I see) and put me on Xanax CR (controlled release) to take once each night for at least two weeks (he only gave me 2 weeks worth) and also Zoloft, 25mg to take once a day. That was the day after Thanksgiving.

I am now taking 0.5mg of Xanax each night (just a week and a half later from that Friday) and today I began to take 50mg of Zoloft per day as per my doctor.

Does Zoloft help very much? I know it is an SSRI just like the Paxil, but my mother and her mother have taken it for depression and it was like a miracle drug for them. I am hoping it will do me wonders as well and was wondering if it helped anyone else very well?

Thank you so much for your time :o)

Welcome. I was taking zoloft for my panic disorder too and let me say that it was the first and only drug I had to take for this condition. I never had a hard tome after taking this med. I'm going off it now so I can finally battle this condition myself.

Everyone is different, but as you already found out, it commonly works for panic.
