Hey all. I am 18 and a freshman in college. I have ADHD bad. Every ADHD book describes my life. As far as focusing, fidgeting, talking, ANYTHING... I've got it. My doctors say I have it worse then a lot of their patients. I am just a perfect book case of it. I have my algebra exam tomorrow and I need like a 77 to pass. I take Stratera now. I couldnt get testing accomodations in time so now I have to take it in a room with 450 people which bothers me. The pressure destroys me. Everything I know will just evaporate into thin air. I can learn it all now but it wont be enough. I take two 40mg pills every morning. Will taking another right before my exam help? Should I have caffeine? What in gods name can I do... I need something to help me not blank out and not stare at the scratches on the chair infront of me for one whole hour. This really sucks. I need to be able to do something!

What do you mean, you can learn it all now but it won't be enough? Won't be enough for what?

Study like mad and do the best you can. If you have to , retake the class. Be sure you pass it the next time.

You may need to retake the course. Most universities will allow you to retake a class. what kills you at most universities is if your overall GPA gets too low for more than two quarters in a row. Usually a 2.0 overall average or better (4 point scale) is required.

lol thanks... i want to pass it this time... i actually have ADHD so bad I cant go to my class because i cant putforth the necessary effort to pay attention in a class of 400 with a teacher that doesnt even know your name. And I can learn it all now but it wont be enough because the pressure will make me blank out tomorrow

Well, learn it all now if you can. Then adopt a strategy for managing test anxiety and do the best you can.

Speedo gives good advice. Of course you want to pass it, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. You can usually get the grade wiped out by retaking it if you have a D or F.

Taking Strattera just before won't help. It's not a "fast-acting" medication, unfortunately.

I know exactly what you mean by learning it only to have it completely "missing" at test time. It's a very frustrating problem to know that you KNOW the material, but just can't get at it!

The test anxiety, though will only make everything worse. One tip that usually works well for test anxiety is to adopt a sort of "tunnel vision" during the test. This is difficult for an ADDer, but do your best to focus on the task at hand and take it step by step.

Lastly, look forward. You'll have quiet for your next round of exams and you'll do much better.
