It seems like we women with ADD are always thinking about what we're NOT doing . . .

So list something that you accomplished today that you feel good about, and let's cheer each other on! Add something even if it seems minor (for example, if you're a stay at home mom and you got a shower today, you accomplished something MAJOR!!)

Here's mine, it's noon and I have dinner in the crockpot cooking already!

I put some very late library books in a bag to make them ready to take to the library.

I sorted a bag of apples that my mother gave us some time ago, but they were not ripe then -- winter apples -- so of course we forgot about them, and I peeled and sliced two of the ones that were neither rotten or had mildew and put in freezer.

I like this thread! :)

If this is considered spam or a plug, then go ahead, somebody bonk me over the head---but dangit I AM proud and it IS an accomplishment.

I set up 3 Cafepress shops of my designs and photographs. They're all in the beginning stages, but I have this quote by my desk that says:

"Do not wait; the time will never be "just right." Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along."---Napoleon Hill

So I did just that!

Put the clothes I got for Christmas in the closet, hung neatly, and organized by type, sleeve length, collar type, and color (just a wee bit anal retentive, but if I am going to try to find something to wear at the crack of dawn, lots of organization is going to be necessary-- that or an act of God)

Ordered some of the textbooks I need for this term.

E-mailed my lead notes editor concerning pushing back the second draft deadline (not for me this time-- I am an associate notes editor this year, thus the students ask me for extensions!!!!)

oh Chel, I am so sorry you have sick kids. I went through that last week with one of my kids. I did enough cleaning up of throw up and washing bed sheets to last me quite a while!!

I started doing laundry at 6:00 this morning and have done about 9 loads of wash so far. My older kids decided to bring down all their laundry the same day, instead of their designated day.
Oh and I have made breakfest and lunch for the daycare kids. There is no school this week so I have double the amount of kids!

I was having a really FOGGY day. Seemed like I couldn't accomplish anything and I turned it around.

I exercised (three days in a row!). Cleaned my kitchen and even the floor. Cooked a nutritious meal for everyone. Vacuumed the house. Finished the laundry. Thanks for listening!

Let's see...
Today, I managed to only be fifteen minutes late to work. It was the last day of state testing, so I was still there in time to help with administering stuff--whew. I had half a personal day this afternoon, so I managed to write out sub plans. I photocopied tests for two different classes, and left an organized "pile" of materials for the sub to use. I think I did okay with this, because she wrote "thank you for the great plans." I made it to the specialist's office ON TIME (shock of shocks), and spent several hours going back and forth for tests. I picked up my kids at two different places, stopped back at my classroom to pick up the work I need to grade over the weekend, stopped at the pharmacy twice (still forgot to get the concerta script refilled, but I guess now I have something to look forward to doing bright and early tomorrow now, hm? ;) ) I stopped by the place that offered me a part time job before, so I had something lined up for summer. They still want to hire me. While I was in there, I realized I had left my lights on. Cue one jump start to my car--LOL and while dealing with that, I left the keys in the ignition, and OF COURSE locked all the doors. Luckily, my nine year old had broken a key in the lock years ago, so it wasn't too difficult to break into my own car. Then, I did all that stuff I mentioned a minute ago with getting my kids and the pharmacy, etc. I got fish sandwiches for all of us for dinner, and fruit and yogurt parfaits, etc. We got "Zathura" to watch on dvd, but I think that's going to be tomorrow. I started some laundry, changed sheets on five beds, brought in the trash containers, took out the garbage from inside, swept the kitchen floor, swept the bathroom floor upstairs, and and and...

LOL sometimes, I have to write it all down to realize that Yeah, I am adhd...and days like today clearly illustrate the "H." I finally have all the kids in bed, and have begun to decompress from a very long, very tense day. I feel like I should be more exhausted, but really, I'm just so glad I was and am able to do this kind of activity daily. It was only five years ago that I was frozen indoors, usually in semi-darkness, practically hiding under my bedcovers. :)

Hi everyone. I'm new to the boards and when I saw the title of this section I knew I was right at home. :) I was just diagnosed about 3 weeks ago, and I'm so happy to have found this website. I can't tell you how good it feels to read other's posts and to recognize myself in them. :)

Anyway, the biggie that I got done was actually yesterday, but I'm proud of it so I wanted to share. I was asked by a video game website/magazine to write a review of a new PC game. The last time they asked, I ended up writing and emailing it off the very last day of the deadline, and was so stressed out and rushed, I wasn't happy with the review at all. This time (thanks to my new medication, I believe!) I took my time playing the game, took all afternoon yesterday to write my 1,000 words, and when I sent it off, I felt good about it. I got an email from the editor of the website soon after telling me that he thought I'd done a good job and that it was well-written and enjoyable! I've been on cloud nine ever since. :)

Yesterday gave me a glimpse into what it can feel like to do things without being rushed, and also what it feels like to do something and feel like I've done it well, rather than ruminating on it and obsessing about how well I did after it's done. I'm so happy to have found a psychiatrist and medication---I think it's going to take time, but seeing changes already has got me excited about what the future might be like, and it feels really great to feel that way. :)

Thanks everyone for being here and for sharing on this topic and all of the others!

I took the first step on getting help with ADD ...was diagnosed 8 years ago and have been too stubborn (scared?) to go on medications ...but after a heartbreak and a wake up call, I made an appointment today to see a doctor about starting treatment. Scary but exciting all in one.

Hey cherity
How did the finals go? You are done for the summer right? I am so proud of you.

Hey ms_sunshine more boxes. Wish we lived closer I would watch the kids foryou or help out with the boxes. Yeah i know you like to do it on your own right:)

As for what did i do today? I got up at 8 am that is a wow for me. MOm and I awent to Target to get some spring cloths for me. We are heading down to Cincinnati for see my sister and her family all 4 of us Mom, Dad, Me and Penny ( the dog).
I learned how to manage those motorised carts in Target. I dont know how to drive so it was tricky. When you want the cart to go you have to press the green buttoon a nd then pull the handle bars backwards to go. To me that doesnt make sense for an ADHD brain and dyslexic brain. Any ways I bought some capri pants since I dont have any spring pants ones that will fit ove rmy cast anyway. A purty violet short skirt too and magneta one too. Love to shop with mom. We got a long so well today. She even too Penny my dog out before we left.

I run a paranormal quiz with my partner, it was quite fun, i could hyperfocus on it so i had a really good time, even though i thought i was going to mess it all up in the begining!! :)

Paranormal quiz? Does that mean your partner is possessed or they're seeing a ghost? I ask that only partly in humor, because I think it's interesting, too. So you can really answer if you want to, it was sarcasm mixed with inquiry.

I got a suction paint roller in hopes that painting will go faster. :D

LOL yes, I do like to do this on my own, but I wouldn't have said no to a nap. It was nice of you to offer.

Today I maintained around the house, and got myself to the store even though I didn't want to go.

LOL! Yes my partner can see spirit's and has done for years he's part of a club based in the u.k called clubzero! I love the paranormal myself and have been a member of the club, but because of the way i am, i'm not accepted very well so i tend to keep away for now! :)

Something you accompished today: I answered a question mixed with sarcasm and enquiry without feeling offended!! Yipppeeeee :p

This is from last night, since I only have forum access during the day ... but I groomed my golden retriever, who has been "blowing" his spring coat EVERYWHERE.

And then used my magical "carpet squeegee" to scrape up the stuff that he'd already shed, so he wouldn't roll in it and undo all my work.

Between the brushing and the squeegee, I bagged up enough hair to make a whole new dog!!!

Hubby is completely packed to leave on his run..and the real kicker was I only had to do one load of wash today to make that happen ...I was actually setting aside his stuff in his cases as I went along this week. WOW!

It's up to him to remember his keys, wallet and cell phone though, since I will be driving him a few miles to hop in the truck by 5 AM which is looooong before I take my meds. :faint:
