i've been taking this since september, 2001. it's fine. someone else who'd taken it claimed they had memory problems. the only important thing is to go to bed after taking the medication. i've done things like go on Amazon.com and discover in the morning that i'd ordered a couple hundred dollars worth of books. it seems to inhibit the inhibition. next day there's no 'hangover' or side effect. just when it's starting to work it's better to be in bed. :)

Zopiclone is an extremely effective medication in my opinion (plus my psyc who says it IS the best of the sleeping pills). It is most useful for problems falling asleep, rather than sleep maintenance through the whole night as it has a pretty short half life (no more than 2-3h). While tolerance does develop, it is not significant since in the long term it seems to maintain much of its effectiveness. It is also important to use Zopiclone while trying to maintain a fairly consistent sleep schedule as well, otherwise you still might not be able to sleep at night (i.e. sleep in late on weekend, can't sleep normal schedule the next day kind of situation). Overall, it’s a great knock out pill... just try to take responsibility for your sleep as well, eliminate any meds that may disrupt sleep throughout the whole night, and try to use the minimal dosage.

(I've been taking it for about 9 months now @ 7.5-10 mg)

totally agree with you.

sleep hygiene is important. always go to bed at the same time. (no late night partying but hey, when you have chronic insomnia, you are just so grateful to get sleep and feel normal the next day that partying is no longer an attractive option.) if you can't get to sleep in 20 minutes, get out of bed. you can't associate the bed with bad experiences and not being able to get to sleep is a bad experience.

we seem to programme ourselves to respond in the same way when we find ourselves either in the same place or the same situation. we need to re-write the programme.
