Call her Mary. Call her 13-year-old son John. John witnessed the traumatic death of a family member. Before the death, John had been a funny, outgoing boy who loved music and bicycles.
Mary said after the death, John became unfocused in school. He would fly into rages, he started talking about killing himself, he started getting into trouble with the law and he started trusting nobody.
John was arrested for committing a property crime, and he found himself in the county's juvenile justice system.
