A reply to my post commented on Muncheusen's. I've been trying to learn more about it, but the only forums on the net are MOMA, which is "Monther's against Munchuesens". It is dedicated to what they believe is the false accusations of Munchuesen's by proxy.
No matter where i search, it is the only thing that comes up. Posting my comments on that forum lead to flaming, "I am wrong, how dare I accuse a loving mother, etc"
If anyone knows of any forum with a rational discussion of this, please let me know.

I don't know of any forums for any of the fictitious disorders, actually. (BTW, for those about to jump on me, "fictitious disorders" aren't "fictitious". They're the disorders related to the attention-getting behavior that many engage in where they make stuff up. Usually somatic disorders like Severe Hypochondria and Munchausen's Syndrome.)
While few here will be able to share stories, there are some psychologists on the board who may be able to answer your questions. Some are clinical practitioners, some researchers, some teachers and some combinations of these. Between us, what we don't know we'll have the reference material to find out.
The wall that you are running into is possibly due to the fact that people with disorders are very protective of others with disorders. They have good reasons for it too.
The problem is that when one has a disorder that person soon discovers they are treated as a second-class citizen, and will sometimes be harassed, persecuted, and have their constitutional rights systematically violated in the name of the "greater good".
The dillemia that you face is that a child is involved, and you have questioned the safety of that child. Regardless of what you like or dislike, your only hope is to show clearly that the child is endangered in some way. Having failed to do that, the validity of your actions would be reduced to mere harassment, and your ethics come into question. If you are wrong, and you persist, she could concievably take legal action against you and win.
This is why I stress a nonconfrontatinoal approach, if that fails, then you need to bring out the big guns. Get a lawyer and pray that you are right, because peoples lives are involved.
ME :D
