Hi all!
This http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23634 is our son Yohanan.
Well, the initial good feedback from his teacher & class rabbi about the Concerta that I referred to in my Dec. 12 post proved to be a disappointing false alarm. One week later, the teacher & class rabbi said that they could see no real change. More importantly, Yohanan told us that he didn't feel any different. So, I spoke to the pediatric neurologist& told us to try Ritalin LA instead.
Well, aside from being about half the price of the Concerta here, the Ritalin LA (I think that Yohanan is on the 30 mg. capsules) has been much more effective. I have waited this long to post because I didn't want to rush to post another false alarm.
First of all, the Ritalin LA capsules are easier for Yohanan to take than the Concerta caplets.
Second, we are getting very positive feedback from both Yohanan's teacher & his class rabbi. We're seeing lots of good behavior & "Well done!" stickers in his little school diary. Wendy has spoken to both Yohanan's teacher & class rabbi & both have said that in contrast to the Concerta, they can both see positive results from the Ritalin LA. Yohanan is more attentive, more responsive & better behaved generally.
Third, the Ritalin LA doesn't seem to suppress his appetite as much & it doesn't seem to keep him up as late.
Fourth, and most important, Yohanan himself tells us that he feels that the Ritalin LA is helping him.
Thus, Ritalin LA it is for the time being.
So, I would be very interested in hearing other parents' experiences with Ritalin LA with their kids.
Thanks!
Be well!
