Mu heart rate was on the high side, even before I started stimulants. Which is less likely to raise heart rate, Adderall or dextroamphetamine?

I seem to have read that dextro has fewer "side effects" while it kicks the cns harder. This would be nice.

Would methylphenidate be a better candidate?

I have tried methylphenidate and Adderall - still need to try dextroamphetamine.

Hey SnappyCloud:
Did you ever figure out your meds and blood pressure?

Usually, not on meds, my blood pressure is somewhere between perfect and a little on the low side. Once, during my BA degree, I had someone at the school's health center re-check it because they thought they'd made a mistake. :D

Everyone is different, but for me it seemed Adderall raised my blood pressure, which my doctor was watching (but I also in hindsight think that 10 mg was giving me the effects of too high a dose, who knows what would have happened on a lower dose). I don't think my BP was at a serious level yet, but was enough of a change for me that Doctor was keeping an eye on it. Doctor was happy when blood pressure seemed to come back down when we switched me to Concerta.

I started on methylphenidate (Metadate CD this time, instead of Concerta) again today. I think it is "smoother" than amphetamine (for me). I'll be checking my pulse and blood pressure to validate what I think: that it increases my pulse less and that it decreases (this is not a typo-both methylphenidate and amphetamine seem to reduce my BP because of their calming effect) my blood pressure more. I think that focus is better with amphetamine though. These are the effects these drugs seem to have on me - everyone reacts differently.

I was having problems absorbing amphetamine due to acid urine (3/4 of amphetamine is eliminated within 2-5 hours when one hac acidic urine). I've been testing my urine throughout the day for several days I confirmed it.

Desoxyn has the lowest amount of peripheral nervous system (PNS) stimulation of any of the available prescription stimulants. The only problem with it (well two problems actually) for me were high price, and too much sedation.

You would be well advised to discuss Desoxyn with your Dr. if you are experiencing too much in the way of PNS stimulation.

according to science the dextro isomers of both amphetamin (amp) and methylphenidate (mph) cause less peripheral effects including raise of heart rate. assumming you mean heart rate (ammount of beats in a minute) and not highbloodpressure which has to be diagnosed as far as i know.

but it is a general effect of stimulants. so discusse it with your dr. when you have an pre-exsisting tendency or diagnosis.

mph seems more stimulating bodywise then amp to me. but even dextro-amphetamin gave me cold hands and sweat, but no noticeable ellevated heart rate. where mph did at equivalent dosage!

you could also try avoiding coffein/coffee etc and nicotin, which have drastic effect on the heart rate, if they are in the mix too!
