I am on 10 mg Focalin XR and I just don't like the way I feel. The problem is I can't seem to find a way to describe it. It's kind of like I'm not totally in my own skin. Anyone else feel like this? I don't think it has helped with my hyperfocus either. I started on 5mg and I "thought" I was starting to see improvement but then again it could have been wishful thinking! I have been skipping a day here and there because somthing about it makes me not want to take it. The problem is how to describe it to my doctor. Any suggestions?

First, how long have you been on it?
I have a long history with psychoactive meds. For about 5 years I tried a number of different antidepressants before getting the correct diagnosis (that I was bipolar!), which led me to the right meds.
Every time I started a new med, including when I recently started Adderall, I felt this way. I call it "woogie". It's not "light headedness" or "drowsiness", it's kind of a surreal feeling.
You can actually induce this feeling with meditation if you are not used to meditating.
Unfortunately, the choice of skipping doses will only increase the length of time you'll be dealing with it. In my experience, it goes away after a week or two of continuous use. Each time you increase your dosage you might feel this way for a few days, too. Once you're settled, I bet you'll be fine.
The hyperfocus problem I don't know how to address. I've been on Adderall XR for 2 months and I think I actually hyperfocus MORE on it. But, I'm thrilled because I can actually study without getting bad headaches!
