Since many of us are taking Focalin ... or have children taking it .... I thought I would start a separate thread. Please post your experiences with this medication. Thank you.

i used to take 40 mg of Focalin XR. I have been testing out a medication that isn't really approved yet called Provigil. However, it is not nearly as effective as the Focalin XR, so today I decided that I'd try out the 40 mg of Focalin XR. The Focalin XR helps me with focusing, but at an expense. I don't feel like my natural self, I feel like a machine just getting things done. Before when i took Focalin XR i had trouble with anxiety, depression, and even confusion in my thinking. Maybe it's just that I am taking too high of a dose of Focalin. With all other medications that I have tried other than Provigil I have had the same reaction, minus the confusion.

Provigil helped me when I did not get 7-9 hours of sleep. For concentration, however, it did nothing. Some kids (not adults) with ADD seem to benefit ffrom it.

exactly what happened with me. except after about 12 I started getting sleepy and just wanted to take a nap.
