Dexedrine or Ritalin make me anxious and make my heart going crazy. My doctor suggested to combine a beta blocker to counter those side effects. It works quite well. The one I use is Propranolol. Anyone use a beta blocker except me?

I'm on Adderall and just got a prescription for occasional use of Propranolol. I started a thread to ask for people's experiences:

I haven't tried it yet, however. I haven't had a situation that could test it.

I don't generally have problems with anxiety. I'm just in a situation right now that requires I give some performances that will decide pretty much the rest of my life! So, you can see how I'd have a bit of performance anxiety....

Propranolol is reported to reduce Adderall's effects, but since I will only be taking it on a few occasions, I'm not going to worry too much about that.

What's your experience?

I've used it before with Ritalin. Works well. Dosing is very important as is monitoring you're heartbeat. It's also used for blood pressure control which I may be in need of.

Without it, 2.5 mg of dexedrine was the maximum I could handle. With 20 mg of propranolol, I can use 5 mg of dexedrine. It's still a quite small dose. Propranolol is known to cross the brain barrier so I'm wondering if others beta blockers like Nadolol wouldn't reduce the effectiveness of dexedrine.
