I'm currently on Adderall XR 30mg. I take 20mg in the morning, then another 10mg in the afternoon. I was taking 20mg at 10 am but was was having a problem with the medication wearing off around dinner time and becoming jumpy/irritable. Doctor suggested and gave me script for 90 pills of the 10 mg, take two in the am and one in the afternoon.
My insurance said that was a no go. Could only give me 30 pills at a time. So, the doctor rewrote the script, giving me two prescriptions, 30 pills of the 20mg and 30 pills of the 10 mg.
So, then the copay jumped from $48 to $96. Is there any way around this? If she gave me one script for the 30 mg, the copay would also be $48, but then I'm taking too much at once only for it to wear off. By dividing the doses, it's helped me more, yet is costing twice as much!!! The pharmacist said it was crazy for the insurance to do this, but there was nothing he could do, and my doctor didn't have any other ideas at the time either. Without the insurance, the drug would cost $240 for the month, so $96 is much better than paying full price, just wondering if anyone has a more cost effective idea.
