Hello all...this morning I asked my dr. for an increase in my adderal IR because I have felt like 10mg two times a day was not enough and I tried halving another one and taking 15mg ( I had permission from my dr's nurse to try it once so I could talk to my dr. about it when I came back) and I thought the increase was more helpful so she bumped me up officially to 15mg in the morning and the same dose again in the afternoon.....this is not a huge increase but the pharmacy only carries Barr tablets in the higher doses...I was disappointed as I had heard that the Barr tablets were a little inferior but Im now going into my third hour of it and I feel good and more focused than I have ever felt outside of an emergency(adrenaline producing) situation....I find it hard to believe that the Barr tablets could be any different but this 15mg certainly feels alot different than the Malinkrodt 15mg that I took the other day.....it makes me feel just as motivated as the malinkrodt, but much more focus.....Does anyone think this is all in my head? Perhaps it is, but I would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience switching manufacturers.

well...very soon after I wrote the post above yesterday, my chest began tightening and I had a lot of shortness of breath and a racing heart....I chalked it up to anxiety and being to focused on my medication.......soooo I took my first dose this morning and I am having the exact same problem, in addition to a lot heartburn which I noticed after I took the first Barr tablet yesterday.....yes, this barr tablet does make me feel more focused somehow but the other symptoms are completely different from what ive experienced before.......its like im taking a new medicine entirely...im at a loss...:(

You may want to talk with your doc about the chest tightening and the shortness of breath.

I have never noticed a difference with the various generics of Adderall. Adderall tends to give me indigestion/heartburn.

It may take your body a bit of time to adjust to the new dose, just like it took a bit of time to adjust when you began taking Adderall IR.
If you're worried about it, call your doc.

I'm one of those people who believes if you're doubting or questioning something- ask about it!

I have also noticed a positive with the Barr formulation. I was on Adderall XR, switched to generic, and I like the Barr version the best, for the reasons Hoosiergirl mentions -- I feel more focused, more attentive and calmer with the Barr. I ask for it by name now, so I don't get stuck with another generic. It's good stuff for me.

I read in another thread that Barr may absorb faster. Maybe that could have produced the negatives?

Click for a link to a thread discussing Barr (http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22799&highlight=barr) There are lots of others as well if you search Barr.

after having taken the Barr Adderall for a while now and even taking the reduced dose I can honestly say that, for me, its different....im not sure if its the medicine or me but I feel the difference.....ive adjusted to a little more but I still feel like its kind of like taking a different medicine...I will be going back to the Malinkrodt tablets the first chance I get........
