View Full Version : is Ritalin better for focus then Adderall? blackwhite 01-13-06, 07:52 AM I'm on adderall I need help focusing but it's not working has anyone tried both and noticed a difference between the two in terms of focus/short term memory? barbyma 01-13-06, 12:56 PM Everyone responds differently to psychoactive meds, unfortunately. The positive in this is that you haven't seemed to have a "bad" reaction to it, so your dx is probably correct, you just don't respond well to this med. From your other posts I gather you've tried different doses? And you've given them time (a few days, at least)? If so, your doc will probably have you try one of the other meds. There are so many now. If you don't respond to one of the other stimulants (about 10% of ADDers don't respond to any of the stimulant classes), there are still lots of other meds to try, including Strattera. They just take a lot longer to determine if they are effective (weeks). Good luck!!! blackwhite 01-13-06, 10:13 PM thanks for the feedback hoosiergirl 01-17-06, 12:56 PM I have taken both and noticed that ritalin seemed to help me concentrate better but the side effects when it wore off were not tolerable......some people find relief from their symptoms on the first med the Dr. prescribes but for a lot of us, it's a journey to find the right med or combination of meds and the right dosages......good luck |
