Ok.. First off, I'm 26 and I have been diagnosed, and I am currently taking my medication. I just started medication about 8 months ago, everything has been working great (when I'm awake). I haven't really found much info on oversleeping with people with add/hd. I am a inattentive type (even though I wish I had the hyperactivity :P). My attention is better, way better. Intitally when I started my medication, I could wake up on time and be to work on time. Now it's not working that way, I can goto bed planning on sleeping 6-8 hours and end up sleeping 12 hours. I'm not depressed. Now I've tried different tactics like using two alarm clocks, going to bed earlier then 6-8 before my alarm clock. It's not working. Today I recently received my Final Warning. I don't really know what to do or think. I think what seems to work best for me is to take my meds before bed time. I've done that a few times where I had to be back at work in 4 hours. Any suggestions would be great as I could use them greatly. Right now my plan of attack is having two alarm clocks, having my girlfriend wake me up 2 hours before work to take my medication, and then have the phone by my bed so she can call me. I guess that is it for now..

wow-- it sounds like you're really tryng everything in your power to wake up....is it that you literally don't wake up, or just have a hard time getting out of bed, and then fall asleep again? on't really know what to say, except maybe you should talk to your doctor--clearly the alarm clocks and friends aren't cutting it--best of luck!

You know, I have the same frustrating problem. I'm just waiting for the day when I'll be fired for chronic tardiness. I've been 30 minutes to an hour late every day for the last several months since I started. Luckily, no one has protested too much, at least to my face. Hopefully, my efforts to go above and beyond my work duties will be enough to compensate for my inability to be punctual. I thoroughly sympathize with you. The only thing I can tell you is to check out the Sleeping sub-section on this forum, near the bottom of the main menu in the Co-Existing Conditions section. Perhaps, you can find some answers there.
Sounds like you are not getting enough sleep and not getting to sleep at a regular time. The few times that I had been able to get on a sleep routine when I went to bed early and woke up at the same time everyday were the few times when I was able to get to my job on time. I am still struggling with it.
In case you don't make it to the Sleeping sub-section, here are the links to some helpful articles on how to deal with sleeping problems:

Let me know if you find a solution! Good luck and sorry to hear about your situation!

I had a similar problem when I was on dexedrine. One thing I tried was to take it and sleep a bit more and than I would be wide awake when I needed to. This didn't always work though. I didnt notice what meds you were on. You might want to ask your doc if the stimulant wearing off causes you to have problems waking up. I hope it works out for you. I had to drop out of grad school bc I couldnt cope with the 9am classes:(

I have this problem too, but it got much better since I started to use radio alarm. I think it's because with the radio (I mostly listen to talkradio) there's something to keep my brain interested enough for me to wake up a bit.
I still have a hard time getting out of bed and it takes some time till I'm really awake, sometimes all day :), but at least I don't oversleep and turn off alarms without remembering constantly.
