Hi
I suffered a lot because of my credit card debt. I am going nowhere because of my credit card debt, ADD and depression. I guess I have taken control of the latter two, but credit card debt is something that has been nagging me so much that I can't step out of my little city and look for a job in another (expensive) city, which is where the jobs are? I pay a big sum of money towards credit card payments every month..

I want to know, if credit card counselling will help. I mean, can I get my balances down to a tolerable level?

I am anzious to know..This is tearing my life apart. I want to take control

IMHO you should definately do it. I did this about 6 years ago and it made a big difference. The service I used contacted all of my creditors, negotiated lower interest rates with all but one, set up payment plans and helped to keep me on track through the 3 year plan. I would send then one check a month and then they would send checks to all the creditors. It just seems so overwelming when it's all spread out over a bunch of accounts so having it at least seem like it was all in one place made it more doable. And- there was a definate end-point which also helped to make it seem more maneageable.

Good luck!

There is pros & cons to credit counseling. I can tell you that it is best if you are able to look into several different agencies. We did not look into others and the one we did go with was more harmful to our credit. The second one we did go with was fantastic. It really worked with us and our creditors

Good luck to you. I know that the worse feeling in the world is to know that you owe people/companies money

I can only say its good from an observers point of view, but from what I see I think it's good.
I'm not using it, but a ADHD friend of mine is and I have noticed huge differences in his attitudes toward spending. This help has gotten him really under control.
At the same time, though, it still allows him to have a life and have some fun, while working down his debt.
I don't know the details of its workings but it seems like a really big help for adders with this problem

I say ....cut them up and give the last one to someone you can trust to hold it untill all balances are 0.00 .
Why spend money you don't have ,and pay it back at 10% to 21% interest ? Can you get that kind of money (percentage rate) paid to you for savings or any other account ?
Think about it -the credit card co.s love it -easy money $100 loaned to you and $10 to $21 back to them

I agree that you should keep one for emergencies and car rentals and such but the balance should always be kept at $0.00 ,then get a debit card where the money is taken straight from your account .

so many people get into big big trouble with those things and looking at the new bankruptcy laws ,the C.C. comp.s
are gonna get their money no matter what
