After pulling the plug on my doc of 10 years I saw my wife's doctor. What an idiot. He told me how I could get around many of my ADD related symptoms by having other people do things for me. At one point I mentioned what a chore it is for me to read. He said not everyone is a reader. I was pretty calm up to this point. We had a small argument which ended by me saying I would not stop until I get proper treatment for my condition. He got a bit flustered, there was a line-up in his waiting room and I was taking more than my alotted time, so he told me to make another appointment for one week and he'll deliver is almighty word.

That's because, I assume, he's a doctor. As opposed to a psychiatrist. Going to see him about ADD is like going to see a gynecologist because you've got a bleeding ulcer. You need to see someone who's trained in that field. A normal family doctor isn't equipped to diagnose or treat ADD, which is why you're having trouble.

I had my ADD diagnosis from a psychiatric assessment with me. If a doctor didn't know what to do with it I would expect a referral. Trying to talk me out of my condition was the last thing I expected.

How frustrating. Why should you be dependant on other people to get things done. I can't believe a doctor would say this to a patient.
