Hi everybody
New year started with my MBNA credit card company announcing that the are shutting down my credit card.
I am near collapse. My finances are in a shambles. My bills are all hitting me like pile hammers.
I can no longer take it. My roomies bullied me. I lost my dignity. Because of ADHD and depression, I am a shambles right now.
I started taking adderall. I am still in my part time job
I have to find a new apartment and I have no money to move out. I am watching in horror as my bank balance almost always dips below 0.
I have run out of luck asking money from friends. I am on my own and alone. I am frightened.
I am going to try credit card counselling. I do not know what else to do?

thanks for reading my mail

i can empathize. i think this is something you need to talk to your family about. my parents would reluctantly but lovingly help me out if i ultimately needed the aid. at that point tho you need to make a concious commitment towards financial restraint

ilangocal,
Hi there. If possible try avoiding consilidation...I did it, and even though I made smaller payments for a determined period of time, my credit went to the gutter anyways. After paying my debts.....guess what. The IRS thought I had a gain in my debts, so charged me for $600 which I am still paying $100 a month. By the way, I still have bad credit, till this day even though I paid my debt over 2 yrs ago completely.

My wife sent letters to the credit bureaus, which I think they answered, that they will review it.

I believe you can contact your credit card company and make a deal with them. My understanding is they will be very tough, wanting their money...but at the end, you know how much you can pay them and to a certain degree, they will comply....but this has to be done before you have any late payments.

My english is bad, so hopefully you understand what I wrote.

Hope this helps
Rick

Credit card counseling is terrific when your credit scores are very low, but try to avoid it if your credit score is still above 600. Why? These contracts help you get out of debt, but negatively affect your credit score.

Alternatives (like taking loan out using your car as collateral) aren't great, but sometimes better. Think carefully about what your best choice is.

You've taken the first step out of the ditch you're in -- you're getting treatment.

If you're looking for specific advice, I'm sure that someone on the boards has experienced similar problems. I can certainly speak to the debt issues and the "paycheck to paycheck" existence. We still live that way to an extent, our paychecks are just a whole lot larger than they used to be (but so are our expenses!).

So, for support: HANG IN THERE! You WILL get through it!!!

For advice: other than what I put here, if you want specific advice, just ask a specific question. I love to give advice....;)
