I don't need help filling it out just why they might have sent it to me. I go for a hopeful dx first part of Feb with a psych doctor. They know why I am coming or the issue at hand. Sent me the paperwork early same old stuff you fill out even if you go to a regular doctor, except, they sent a mood disorder questionnaire.
Leans more to a bipolar/manic depressive type questions than anything. If I told them Adult ADD why would they send this? Please help, thanks sissy

I am guessing they are just trying to see how you are, what is going on with you, etc....

...and some symptoms are shared among disorders...so this could be their attempt to rule out other disorders.

Diagnosing ADHD is become more and more "evidenced based,"i.e.,meaning the questions asked and the areas covered have been proven by research to be significantly related to ADHD.

In doing that, it's important to note that Questions drive diagnoses these days and NOT test scores.

For children and adults, checklists have the best validity, however, you can't use them by themselves.

That's where the need for more background info comes into play.

As far as Bipolar and ADHD go, there's a research substaniated connection between the two.

Asking questions about other possible problems is just being thorough.

I've posted on Diagnosis (for both kids & adults) many times in here.

When you get a chance, please look those over,as they might help.

Lastly, I obviously don't know who you're going to.

However, I do know that we also mail out questionnaires ahead of time as well.

In fact, most practices around the country, regardless of type, do that as standard procedure.

Rather then second guess them, I hope you take the time to be thorough and follow thru.

Good luck

I am so sorry, I hope I did not sound as though I was second guessing them, I just kinda freaked alittle seeing the mood disorder thing. Why it freaked me out I don't know other than in the past I have tried to talk to doctors(GPs mostley) that just say I am depressed and cowboy up and deal with it. I ask them to send me the papers early so I could have time to fill them out. Seem to get distracted real easy, imagine that. My spelling sucks too so please forgive.
Had a big gripe out session with my husband again, he did the griping and I did the bawling, about the lack of any organization of my house etc... We have been married 25 years and I guess he won't get use to it,I am not so sure I blame him alot of the times. But I really feel bad about it. Makes me very sad. But I know that hope is soon to come. Thanks for all you folks do to help-sissy
