I have been on meds for over a month now and have read the info the pharmacist sends with the prescription.

Questions--

1) A side effect is dry mouth. Does this mean that the meds dehydrate you ?

2) Another side effect is dizzy/lightheadedness. Does this mean that you have the potential to faint??

3) Does being dehydrated make you lightheaded and possibly faint??

If anyone has answers, comments, suggestions all are welcome.

TIA

PS-- would ask my doc but don't see her for 2 weeks and she is very difficult to reach by phone.

Depends on which meds you are on.

The stimulants can be dehydrating, but I believe the "dry mouth" I experienced on antidepressants wasn't actually related to dehydration. It's a bit different and I wasn't thirsty.

Light-headed can encompass a whole bunch of sensations that can't really be described by other terms. I call it "woogie", but no, it doesn't mean you'll faint. You may feel faint, but truly fainting isn't likely.

Yes, you can faint with severe dehydration, but it's rare unless heat is also involved. You're more likely to feel sluggish or get muscle cramps when dehydrated.

I don't know if I answered your questions, but I tried. :o
