i heard that antacids liek tums can help prolong the effects of stimulants. is this true of all stimulants or just dexedrine/adderall?

also, have any of you actually tried this and take antacids with your meds on a regular basis? what was your reaction? was the difference significant?

allie8 i answer your question only with my experiance and my own research to the matter at hand. In actuality antacids allow stimulants like adderall to get into your system quicker. Which allows your body to process the med. The downfall is that it quickly does which intern makes you medicine not last as long. Not a noticble difference but maybe slightly. For example body may process all medicine in 3 hours instead of 3 hours 20 min. antacid purely affects absorbation rate. In return if you eat fatty foods before stimulants the absorbtion rate is longer. so stimulant may last 4 hours instead of 3 and half. However wont notice big difference either way. I do take antacids almost daily and im on 60 mg xr and 40 mg ir adderall. If you want to test the effects for you self. Take a 1/2 teaspoon baking soda about 40 min before taking meds. Please just 1/2 teaspoon more has made my stomach hurt PEACE
