Okay, so I'm going to get some medication tomorrow and I plan on discussing with my doctor what I want prescribed to me. I want to stick to the Adderall-type drugs. I would take a generic of Adderall, or a generic of Dexedrine. I refuse to pay so much more for a brand name, as long as the manufacturer is good enough in quality. So I wanted to ask everyone, if you are taking an Adderall or Dexedrine generic, which manufacturers should I avoid? By looking through the forums, I have concluded that any generics made by Barr Laboratories are crap, as they give many people headaches. I've also read that their overall efficacy is considered to be inferior to other manufacturers (such as Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals). I just want to know what manufacturers I should avoid. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks a lot people!

I take 60mg/day. Tried eon, ranbaxy, shire, and Mallinckrodt. Barr was like a placebo, eon and shire felt the same (slow and long lasting) and ranbaxy and mallinckrodt felt the same (potent but short). Hope that helps somebody. I am extremely in tune with my body and have tried each for at least 60 days.

Not everyone had problems with Barr. It's also the most widely available one, so you may not have a choice. Why not try and see for yourself? I was a bit nervous about taking it after reading some of the posts here, but if you reread, you'll also see many people who were fine with it. I haven't noticed any difference between Adderall XR and Barr's generic IR (other than the obvious of having to take a 2nd dose).
What works for one may not work for another and vice versa, so just because someone else didn't feel that Barr was effective, doesn't mean you will.
