Hi!
First post for me although I've already been reading here for quite a while. Great board!
Anyways here's my question:

Can anybody comment on or point me to a place where I can find information regarding possible interactions of methylphenidate with any supplement of the following list?

- moderate to high dose vitamin E (alpha tocopherol) 400mg x 3 times a day
- Ginkgo biloba
- Ginseng
- decaffeniated green tea (not a suplement, but still works as a CNS although it's stripped of the caffeine)
- 27 Vitamin + Minerals combined pill (too long list to type, but the common essential ones) twice a day

I'm asking because I want to avoid any methylphenidate negating/counteracting or health endangering effects. My doc started me on (4x10mg) Ritalin 10 days ago and I decided to pass on the suplements for the time being.
Searching Google didn't yield too much.

Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Don't know if this is the right board. In case a mod considered this thread better went into the general ADD medication board, it's fine with me.

Your doctor is the one you'd probably better ask to be sure -- anything with a stimulating effect would be something to be very careful of (IE: ginsing) until you've checked with your doctor -- it is possible to overdo the stimulent effect and make your meds less effective or worse end up with racing thoughts, or even do damage to your heart. They recommend avoiding regularly caffeine beverages because they tend to make stimulent medication less effective (for one thing caffeine reduces blood flow to the brain which doesn't help in the long run, even though there is often a short term help).
