Attention ADD Inattentive type people:

I don't know what to suggest, if the doctor asks me what I want to take for my ADD Inattentive type. I have a feeling the doctor will ask.

What works or didn't work for you??

Thanks!!!

Unfortunately, that varies for every person. Stimulent medication like Concerta or Adderall are generally effective for about 70% or better of ADDers. I've read that folks who were ever hyperactives don't do as well on Strattera as inattentives. I'm diagnoses as inattentive now but was very hyper as a kid. I take Concerta and it works well. Overall most ADDers seem to prefer stimulent medication but I don't know if that is also true of inattentives.

Good luck!

I only just got diagnosed as an inattentive type a few weeks ago, but so far Adderall XR seems to work really well. Unfortunately, because I seem to metabolize meds quickly, I need 1 30mg XR in the morning, and then 1 or 2 20mg regular Adderall in the afternoon (damned evening classes!).

The benefits, though, are that I'm generally just productive in school for the first time in my life, and I can "just do" things that need doing. It's almost scary, though, to realize how much time I'd lost not really doing anything. It's like getting glasses for the first time - I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do, upon realizing what I'd been missing out on!

The real sticky part now is that on some mornings, it seems to not do much at all (the XR, that is). I need to so some searching (obviously), but I'm wondering so far what the effects of acidity are on Adderall... but that's for another thread.

Get some Piracetam and some Gingko. That will beat Adderall anyday.

I had heard that Gingko helps some with ADD. Piracetam was a new one for me so I Googled it... interesting.

I've been taking Omega 3 (fish oil) for about 3 - 4 months and am amazed at the difference I can see in myself. I don't feel nearly as spacey, don't have to stop in the middle of speaking to search for a particular word, I've been able to follow through on activities once I get started, I think I'm paying attention better and remembering better. I think it's helping with my temper/anger/rage issues as well.

Skills are just as important as pills.
