View Full Version : reading other people
tetsuo76 02-13-06, 05:33 AM I am a strong believer in principles like; you attract what you radiate and what goes round comes round. Since the universe is made out of energy everything has a certain load of energy (positive/neutral/negative). Are we not built out of atoms? So we send out certain energy vibes that are picked up by other people who have the same vibes.
For some reason I've always attracted more ADDers in my life than non-ADDers. For the simple reason that I was attracting what I was radiating. Annyway... In the last few months I have noticed that I am very good in reading non-ADDers. Since they are so predictable most of the times it's easy to see where they come from and where they are going to (not all the time and not always a 100% accurately though). No, I am do not claim to be a hocus-pocus/fortune teller! But with non-ADDers, most of the time, simple deduction is more than enough! "elementary my dear Watson!" Yet the only people I do not seem to read are other ADDers. I think this is because of our open minded and unpredictable nature. Could this be a way of screening for other ADDers?
To who of you does this sound familiar?

I've always been good at "reading" other people, whether they have ADD traits or not. Then again, so is my husband and he is most definately not ADD.
A gift maybe? I wouldn't call it psychic either....maybe very intuitive, and it's one of those things that interests me...in which case, I usually am pretty good at things I find interesting.

Ditto.

Bob1951 02-13-06, 01:45 PM I don't know about the energy thing - not for or against it - just don't know. However, body languarge transmits most of our emotional message.
I love to joke but have to put the brakes on over the net because of no body language. Correction: "I'm trying to put the brakes on." I can hit [enter] in a nanosecond.

wheresmykeys 02-13-06, 01:59 PM I can read people as well, very well, in fact better than most other people I've noticed. I like that I can do that.
I also believe in what goes around comes around. I don't seem to attract ADDers though..as far as I can tell I know only one other, and we just met by circumstance. Everyone else I am around seems so much more down to earth and normal than me.
I can predict them, maybe it is becuase they are so normal. But, one thing I don't think I'll ever understand, is how they think. I can predict their actions, often their reactions, what they would say in a situation, but what they think of it? Beyond me. I can predict that of my ADD buddy better, eventhough he is totally off the wall.

Please don't say it like this. The word normal, used in this context, implies that you are abnormal and you are most definately not! The word average used in this context would be much better :-)

I believe wheresmykeys is known to be better than average, actually (0:
From her posts great posts on here.

tetsuo76 02-13-06, 03:29 PM most definately!
Could this be a way of screening for other ADDers?
Good call!
And exactly right.
The expression of our ADD is all over the complexity of our observations, depth of our language, extent of our sincerity, strength of our morality ...
I can just keep on going ... on and on ... and on (AND ON).
Remarkably this huge long list of ADD positives, or ADD++ or +++ arises from just one difference though ...
So fellow +++'ers time to learn how to:

:-)
PS The clue that you might want to look for ... are for guys posting observations that're obviously the result of self-awareness, ie plucking some essential qualities about themselves out from themselves, and not just repeating the same old dogma, the ADD dogma of dis-order dat-order damn-order pizza order.
Heavy on the olives and opossums ... light on de-tails.
Just seen it in a chappie called Colojo here ... he is an ADDer.
Almost every line he has written screams ADD at me.
The feelings that he describes -- a sentiment which I call 'ADDerAngst'.
I'm pretty sure that many of the contributors here have also seen the darker side, not of ADD -- but seen through the eyes of ADD.
The darkness isn't ADD, it's the appearance that it is dark, because we have opened our eyes to see that pretty much everyone around us, is in the dark, thinking its light, and just bouncing off one another like high tensile boingy bubbles.

nuffsed 02-13-06, 08:43 PM I think that highly developed intuition is a result of defending oneself. Since childhood, I have always felt slightly out of synch and watch others for cues on what to say, etc. Over time I've developed intuition from watching people so closely and learning to anticipate what will happen next. I'm always surprised when non-ADDers can't read the same things I can in other people. Its merely a coping mechanism.
I'm always attracted to other ADDers because they usually are the bright spark in any room, acting or thinking differently enough to intrigue me. Sit in a crowded place and try to pick them out.

If I may add (as in adding). You are writing about the dark. My theory is as follows: One cannot know the lighter side if one has not experienced the dark side. How else can we define good from wrong? Colojo is swimming in the dark but now that he knows its ADD (which I call the proverbial lightswitch in this context) soon enough it will all come clear to him.
Just remember there is gold to be found in the dark. You just need to realise this and turn it to your advantage ;-)
