My nephew of 3 years old took the adderall of his father, I don't think he swallow some but he did lick it. Is it dangerous for him to had did that? Can a 3 years kids take adderall? I think it was adderall IR and it was 10mg. We did call the hospital and they said if he didn't swallow it, only lick the adderall it not very dangerous but I'm asking here only to make sure? Hopefully someone can respond soon?

I would think he would be ok for just licking it. Where does his father keep his meds? They should be out of reach or locked up so a 3yo, even older kids, can't get to it.

They don't generally recommend stimulent meds for kids that young, but just licking it is not going to get much of the medication into his system. Monitor his heart rate and behavior and call the doctor back if you're concerned.

Thanks for the reply. He his okay, he his is usual hyper and active self.:) I know is father should keep is medications aways, in a safe place where kids can't reach it but his med were in his bathroom cabinet and his son took a chair and open the cabinet door and take the adderall. We all wonder how he was able to do this? He's very smart, how he was able to do something like that but didn't knew how bad taking pills is? Well I'm sure he knew but why he did it? He knew he should not do that?

Oh, how well I know the feeling. My hyper little 3 year old daughter got into her dad's diabetic medicine!:eek: We thought it was beyond reach but she's quite the climber and got the child proof lid off easily and was happy to demonstrate how for us!

Scattered, Did she take any? I hope not. My nephew knew not to take any but it seem that he like to do the opposite as what we told. He very smart and it's still hard to beleived that he was able to climb to get his father adderall but how he's able to do such a smart thing but at the same time doing such a dumb thing as taking his father med when he know not to??? He scared us a lot and we still scare that he may do something like that again. He such a little tricky guy and it's seem that he like being brat and not listen. I hope it's only a fase!
