Just wondering if anyone has swapped from dex to ritalin and how you knew that dexamphetamine was wrong? I have just started dexamphetamine (2nd day today) for ADD inattentive type and I feel really fairly anxious and I am having trouble making decisions. On the other hand I am finding it easier to get motivated and I am being more careful with detailed work, but the anxiety sucks. At this stage I am not sure if it is an interaction with my antidepressant (aurorix) because I have taken speed a couple of times while I was on it and it felt quite a lot different to times I have taken speed while not on it. So I am going to do an experiment and see what happens if I don't take my antidepressant tomorrow. But, I was wondering how I would tell if the dex is wrong for me if it doesnt change anything not taking my antidepressant.

Well I went off my antidepressant and I feel much better. Unfortunately when I go off my antidepressant I get anxiety for a little while and I think being on these stimulant meds exacerbates it. But it is nowhere near as bad as when I was on both meds together. They are contraindicated and I've read they can produce a hypertensive crisis! The websites I was looking at said you should give it two weeks before starting stimulants after coming off aurorix. I checked my blood pressure today and it was high - 147/92 and that was 4 hours after taking a dexie. Going to measure it again tomorrow after I have taken a tablet. Though I figure no-one would die of high blood pressure just over a week. Going to give the dexies a few weeks and see how they go.
