Hi all,

Taking Lexapro and now Ritalin again because the Remeron crapped out and I'm all depressed again.

Started the rit last November with concerta, within 2 weeks I had to take 72 mg twice a day to function.

Now I switched to Ritalin LA and I'm taking 120 to 160 mg a day.
Can't get out of bed without taking some, I have no emotions except crying when it wears off.
Can't seem to watch TV anymore, or go outside.
I'm trying Tyrosine to restore my depleted dopamine and norepinephrine reserves.
Up to 7500 mg as of today of that, no effect yet.

My blood pressure is normal, actually a little on the low side for me.
58 to 74 pulse rate.
I take my blood pressure at least 4 times a day.

Am I not absorbing it or just burnt out?
If I stop taking it I withdrawal very badly and just don't know what to do anymore.

Now that's a question you should call a doctor for. Also you can taper it off, take less every day until you don't use any anymore.

Unfortunately, the Doctor and all the other ones I've seen don't have an answer.

They get to the point where they ask me what drug I want to try next.

I've been in Hospitals, mental wards with nut cases and the like because that's where they put depressed people. They stick everyone together and usually mix up our meds and screw us up more.

So yeah, Doctors I've seen, and I've seen a lot in the past 10 years are not helping me.
So, I have to try and figure my treatment out on my own and it's just futile at this point.

Thank you for the reply.

Hi

I wish I had something of use to say here, some life changing advice. All I have to offer is a little of what has worked for me and support.

I am currently on dex - it is new, I have been mis-diagnosed for over 16 years and I am really amazed at how I am finally functioning. That said, I have flipped in and out of major depression my whole life until last year. I started taking Glyco Nutrients. I know there are a lot of companies that you can get it from. I buy mine from one particular group but I do not want to advocate/sell any kind of products. You can make Glyco Nutrients for yourself by getting the required ingredience from your local health store. I have not found it helpful with my ADD/HD but it has helped me enormously with depression and sleep.
Your not alone in this and please try and hold onto the fact that this too shall pass.

Mike that sounds really hard. I hope you can find a psychiatrist who can help you with the medication end of things. Have you gotten any counseling? I've been helped a lot by that when I was depressed (even before I ever took medication). Also there is research that indicates that regular exercise can help ease depression (and yes, I know how hard it is to exercise when you're depressed, but maybe a friend would buddy up with you and help you get on track).

Take care,
