Hi MiaB;

I took Wellbutrin for a few days. It turned me into a frustrated, angry, irritable and depressed loner. It was awful for me! I hope I never have to feel like that again!!

Many people say they feel angry and/or irritable on this drug. Some say the feeling goes away after some time, once their bodies become used to the medication. Others say it never fully goes away, and some (like me) have to stop taking it for this reason.

Hang in there, and maybe give it a bit more time to see if the angry feelings go away with time. Make sure you tell your doctor what you are experiencing!

Good Luck!

i had simular side effects the first day or two. I remember waking up from a nap and going on this long tirade with a friend about political and social things that made me mad. That seems to have gone away, although a couple times last week, i felt that i was becoming more assertive. and that is good.

a week into it, i'm feeling no side effects, but i'm not sure if i'm feeling effects either.

i take 100mg normal 2x
shrink said i'd be upped if no results, but apart of me wants to take 3x

Yup. Stimulants can cause a rage reaction.

I took Wellbrutrin for only 4 days once. I was irritable right away. It was the first time I ever had obscene ideas of suicide. Very scary. I have spoken to 3 other people who had same effect. My feeling is if something makes you Angry, it's not good for your mind or body. The body knows, it's a warning not something you have to "get used to".

Before I knew I had ADD, I went to a Psych Doc for depression and he prescribed Wellbutrin. It made me incredibly angry and I'd always been a mellow fellow. I'd come home from work and feel like taking my car and plow it into my own garage doors! I told my Psych Doc that it was making me angry and his response was, "Be honest, weren't you really angry before you started taking the Wellbutrin?" and suggested raising my dose level. That made me so angry that I never went back to see him again!
Even stranger is that while I was taking the Wellbutrin for some reason I had the best Sex I ever had in my life! Unfortunately that was about the only time I wasn't angry while taking it! Even my wife liked the Sex part! lol However I'd rather have a miserable Sex life than feel so inappropriately hostile!
Moral of my story! Regardless of what a Doctor may insist on that you do! You must always be your own medical advocate and do what feels right to you! If the Doctor won't listen then find another Doctor who will!
It's also strange that Wellbutrin is prescribed as a "Stop Smoking" Aid! LOL I would have needed a constant I.V. Drip of Nicotine to calm that much hostility!

Been taking the wellbutrin for 6 weeks. I had a couple of temper tantrums. Unusual for me but I have to admit that I have anger. It is the anger turned in that contributes to the depression that caused the doctor to prescribe the wellbutrin. I was better at managing (behavior conditioning) the anger before and slow to express and had the valve down tight re: reactions to irritating social stimulus. I find with the wellbutrin that I am generally crankier and irritable. But, it has helped with the depression so much I am grald I am taking it. Now that I know that I am less inhibited re: anger expression I will just condition myself to be watchful. And see if that works. My doc is wanting me to look at adderall, strattera, dexedrine, ritalin and etc. To help with the impulsivity and hyperactivity of ADHD. There's a lot I don't know but the foregoing seems to be true for me.

Wellbutrin is known to cause anger. For me, I would have anger if I took too much.
I was on Wellbutrrin xl 150 mg , once a day
I could go up to 300 mg for about 4 days, or to 450 mg for one day....

If you are taking an immediate release version of wellbutrin you might ask for sustained release as it does not hit you all at once like the IR version will.

Alternatrively, you might try taking the doese a little further apart.

Talk to your doctor
